(since the Original thread got locked)
Figured I'd bring back this thread. I've said this elsewhere, but a lot of 70s police/detective/private eye type shows from the 70s seem to be forgotten, despite having numerous episodes and being huge back in their day. Columbo gained an unexpected following among young people (especially since it was so prominent on FAST sites), but as for others, Quincy is more known for the unintentional humor of the punk rock episode, McCloud is more known as an MST3K running gag, Rockford Files is more known for its awesome theme song, and stuff like Cannon and The Streets of San Francisco are only known to hardcore 70s tv fans.

I'll use my pick from my ill-fated raising of the dead thread:
Hollywood Squares.
Original hasn't been aired for like 20+ years, the Davidson one not since USA Network repeats. Rights issues and lost tapes have a lot to do with it.

Point is, as iconic as the Peter Marshall version was, you don't see it outside of YouTube.

Similarly for us Brits, there was The Generation Game.
For 30 years it was THE Saturday night game show literally, 1971-81 and 1990 -2002. Epic runs.
Since then, a couple of one offs in 2095 and 2018 and that's it. Never really mentioned, none of the old gags referenced apart from one's tied to one of the presenters who used the same material on every show he did so it's more about him.

You'd think Channel 5 would pick it up, they bring it up all the time in their telly retrospectives

I watched tons of game shows as a kid and it feels like there are so many classic concepts that are dead and buried now. Like, they might get a nod in a parody or something, but they've ceased to exist outside of Buzzer. Pyramid comes to mind.

Funny you should mention that, cause ABC does have a $100,000 Pyramid revival, and has for quite awhile now.
