I contacted the seller and got this response
Probably not. Sorry
If only the segment and subsequent house show matches took place in the NYC area.

I think Hulk & Jake only had matches in the Providence/Canada cities.
Would love to see that segment where Jake DDT's Hulk though.

I’m going to say that unless someone recorded from TV in Providence or Winnipeg it is truly lost…if it did actually make it to tv I’d be willing to bet that it cuts after the DDT or is edited in such a way that any cheers for Jake are gone anyways though.

That I think is the trick. Find fans who grew up in the Providence area, and happened to tape WWF weeklys in 1986. (it's not impossible, well the latter part...I used to obsessively collect wrestling shows every week on VHS) I do like lost media and hunts for said media, so of course the whole Phantom DDT angle fascinates me. It behooves me to bring this up, but what the hey..you're not logo fans, so it's not kicking the beehive...it reminds me of the hunt for the TAT Communications Company closing logo. One of the last white whales of the fandom. Though I doubt the IWC is obsessed with making recreation videos of the Snake Pit incident.

Can someone explain to me what the story is of Jake DDTing Hulk Hogan ? Basically they did a region-specific segment of Challenge where Roberts had Hogan on the Snake Pit and Jake cheap shotted Hulk before hitting him with the DDT. The crowd in question then chanted "DDT" instead of booing Roberts or cheering Hogan. Vince was aghast at the reaction and basically canceled any extensive house show program between the two after that. Since the segment in question only aired in that Providence/Winnipeg area and no recordings have popped up, it's now considered lost media outside the WWE vault.

Is there documentation of it actually airing? I have been interested in finding this for years, but it really feels like one of those things where, if it existed, it should have been found by now. It’s mind-boggling that so much obscure stuff has surfaced, but something as big as a confrontation between Jake and Hogan hasn’t.
Has anyone ever asked Jake if he has it?

I guess the reason I'm inclined to believe it is that regional specific stuff (typically promos) were so common on syndicated WWF TV and so many of them have become lost to time outside select taped examples, that something like this feels like it could very well have aired. Either it wasn't recorded by fans in the area or it was, but the home recordings are just collecting dust in someone's attic/basement somewhere. The easiest means would be just getting it from WWE archives, but unless there's a prominent figure (backstage or on air talent) that wants to air it, I don't think it'll happen.

Yes. www.youtube.com/watch?v=znVLuce720sIn that clip, Ken Resnick, in hyping the upcoming rematch in Providence, RI, references The Snake Pit angle, so it was shown on TV there weeks earlier. The angle itself was taped here:

I wonder if we could find where that clip came from. The YouTube channel seems to be a hodgepodge of Jake things with no one origin.

More and more lost media that was almost impossible to see has been found lately (last year saw Turn-On, previously only available at the Paley Center, make its way to Youtube), so I'm confident this will resurface.

This has always been one of the bigger 'what if's' to me. It obviously would never have happened, but in some alternate universe somewhere Vince listened to the audience, pivoted, and pushed Jake as the top guy in WWF.
Little kid me would have liked the main event scene back then a helluva lot more.

WWE almost certainly has it. They posted a few different clips of Hogan on the Snake Pit on Jake’s DVD and to YouTube before. The most likely one is the one that cuts after they promo back and forth and Hogan turns his back to walk away. I think Jake is wearing a white suit IIRC. supposedly Jake tosses some powder in his face and DDTs him after(but that wasn’t shown on the clip)

The one with the DDT was taped and aired in December 1986 while the other two happened a few months earlier. According to Jake, the segment had him bring out Hogan to see how much Hogan could lift. The kayfabe reason for the powder being out there on the set was so Hogan could put it on his hands to keep them from sweating as he lifted the weights.

Almost every time someone is selling a DVD set of an 80s/90 WWF or JPC/WCW show on Etsy or Ebay, it's DVD rips of the exact same versions that have been traded among tape traders and on torrent sites for 20-30 years at this point. Many times, they aren't even the original airings, they're from some rebroadcast on services like WWE 24/7 or WWF Classics on Sky in the UK. Don't buy them.
If you want to find diamonds in the rough or new versions of the old shows, look for auctions or sales that are giving you the actual VHS tapes. Those will often be first gen copies that the original tape holder recorded themselves. And even then, if they claim to have every or most episodes from a given year, be wary. If they're selling the year set, it's probably those same ones I mentioned above, but a 3rd or 4th generation copy on a VHS. Those are barely even watchable at times.
I've been in and out of this game since I was a kid, so this knowledge comes from having been burned many many times.

I'd point out Jake remembering the specifics here...but remember, Bret Hart didn't have a copy of the Tom Magee match and had to be pointed to the fan who had it. Point is, wrestlers don't have ALL their matches necessarily. And wow, I sure used the word "point" a lot.

Got a DVD of what I thought was rare WPIX scheduling portions from the late 70s, only to see they were shows that have been on Archive or on YouTube.

I wonder if we could find where that clip came from. The YouTube channel seems to be a hodgepodge of Jake things with no one origin. I also had the Hogan/Jake clip on the end of a WWF Superstars comp tape from December 86 to January 87 I got years ago, it wasn't mentioned on the listings and surprised me when I saw it. I'd love if WWE uploaded more rare matches/dark matches on the network but it doesn't look to be a priority right now.
