Probably every physical album I've bought I've ended up getting on Apple Music, after it became a subscription service of course. So it's only technically buying them all again.

At some point I've bought several albums on cassette, cd and record. Maybe The Beatles "White Album" I've purchased the most: Cassette, 30th Anniversary cd and 6 times on record (!)

I've done this a few times. A couple were when I switched from cassette to CD, some, like Judas Priest's Defenders Of The Faith or Queensryche's Live Evolution were because my original copy was so scratched up.
But in the early to mid 2000s bands like Megadeth and Queensryche were releasing remastered versions of their albums with extra songs, and I definitely doubled up on a few.

The only one off the top of my head is Angel Dust by Faith No More. I lost the CD so I downloaded it off iTunes. Then found the CD years later.

I am sure there is more. But lots of that is being born mid 70s I lived thru the life and death of a few formats.
Like I am sure I have owned GnR's first album on a few formats. A handful of Black Flag albums on cassete,cd and record.
But so far the only one Iknow for sure i bought more than once on the same format is this best of Joan Jett album from a few years back.
Bought it on CD for 8 bucks new. Then thought I had lost it. Bought it again only to learn she had "borrowed" it and forgot to tell me. So now I have two copies.

I have both vinyl and CD of Discharge's Hear Nothing See Nothing Say Nothing.
If MP3 counts, I bought the MP3 of Slayer's Reign in Blood(before streaming got big) and I have the vinyl.

Whenever a band or artist I like re-releases older stuff, either with bonus material or improved sound, I usually buy the new version.
Example: Iron Maiden - The Number of the Beast -Original LP -Original Tape -Original CD -Remastered CD 1998 -Remastered CD 2015

Basically every Iron Maiden album and single. I collect the vinyl so typically I'll have the CD and whatever special vinyl is released - typically a picture disc or colored vinyl. There are several I have even more copies of due to other CD or vinyl editions. I have a couple of box sets that include all of the CDs or vinyl as well.

Do you mean by owning multiple copies? Or do you mean by buying it once and getting it again after either selling it, losing it, or giving it away? I could answer for the latter.
One good example of this was the Oz (HBO series) soundtrack. I bought it in early 2001. I sold it later. I bought it again in 2011 and then sold it again. I bought it again in 2018 and have held onto it since.

Managed to put a huge scratch on Guns N’ Roses Use Your Illusion 2, so I bought that again. Then I think I just plain wore it out. So I bought it again. Eventually also bought a reissue vinyl copy.
The Doors first album on CD and cassette.
Guns n’ Roses Use Your Illusion 1, I think just two CDs and a reissue vinyl, also Chinese Democracy on CD and vinyl.

Was it for an anniversary or something?

I've bought and sold lots of the same album multiple times, but i meant buying the same album on the same format. seems to happen to me alot, i get home and i'm like D'oh i've got that already.
