I second WCW 1997. I did a watchthru last year and it was awesome. Gonna have to sit down and check out ECW 1995 after I finish WWF 2000. I kinda wanna go all the way up to WrestleMania X7, since I remember all three PPVs at the start of 2001 being pretty good. I'm into April of 2001, gonna bail when Triple H tears his quad and the Invasion starts. There are some good tv matches between Judgment Day and King of The Ring so I would stick around til KOTR. Then you also get the Tajiri/Regal stuff and Molly/Spike romance which are both entertaining.

I just finished a wild episode of Smackdown where Tori dumped Kane for X-Pac, The Dudleys put Edge and Christian through a table, Mae Young announced that she was pregnant, and The Rock and Rikishi wrestled, only to get beaten down by Triple H and Big Show. Next up is the debut of the Radicalz and shit starts to get good...

So up to the penultimate Smakcdown. And mostly I want to talk about Test.
Good lord they made him look like a twat. Beginning of the year hes pushed, over and then just disappears, only reappearing to lose to Crash. And good lord the Holly's are just all over every show.
Other thoughts:
Show was getting over and they killed him. But hes basically doing Drew McIntyre's current gimmick of heel whose just right and i dig it. But hes nowhere near the promo Drew is and doesnt work for the fact that hes an actual giant human being.
DX are the big bad heel group but Road Dogg still gets pops for the sing a long. Lazy writing and performances. No stories apart from recycled dissension. It's really tired and James has no hill to stand on when he complains about... well anything.
Marked out for APA's door and hitmen gimmick starting. In fact the APA have aged brilliantly. Teo massive dudes who are stiff and do power moves. Love it.
Who in the office finds Mae Young hilarious? I'm guessing Bruce Prichard and Vince because jesus christ it's just bad.
... HHH-Jack at the rumble hasn't aged. I dunno it feels like it should be good but Foley just feels so done at this point.
The Dudley's are absolutely killing it and are maybe the most over heel act on the show. Just amazing stuff. Hardy's are perfect baby faces for the time. The tables march was great and you can feel their stuff being so special.
Feel really sad every time Bulldog shows up.
f***ing Al Snow. On every show, isnt over, gimmick is burnt out. Just a pit on every show. Blackman rocks.
Yeah Jericho hasn't aged well at all. All catchphrases, mostly bad. Chyna's entrance is amazing and she radiates presence. Cargills a better worker but shes Chyna reborn in terms of aura.
The Radicals showing up immediately changed the tone. Going from.generic short matches to the occasional guys who will beat the shit out of their opponents. They rock
They clearly had no idea what to do or where to pit Tazz. Hes on the shows but no focus or structure. Hes just occasionally there and you can feel the crowd learning hes not important. It's a bummer

Oh and Xpac just hit Kane with a weapon from Quake.
And on that I'm so into Xpac as an upper midcard heel. Kinda waiting to see when Xpac heat starts but right now hes just a really solid act

2000 WWF, 1997 WCW and 1995 ECW should be watched by all. However, my personal favorite year is 1998 for all of them. Heatwave 98 is one of my favorite PPVs, easily.

Kinda waiting to see when Xpac heat starts but right now hes just a really solid act Some say it started immediately when he turned on Kane but I think it gets really bad around summer 2000 when DX isn't a thing anymore but he's still wearing the DX green and black attire and basically acting like the same DX X-Pac. I think the same thing would have happened to a lesser degree with Road Dogg but he changed up his look/act with the K-Kwik team and got fired soon after so he didn't stick around to reach the same level of staleness X-Pac did. I think if Road Dogg is still on TV come summer 2001 he's getting ripped on the way X-Pac and Billy Gunn were at the time.

Possible unpopular opinion?
I never really liked 2000 WWF as much whenever I've watched it compared to 96 through like mid 99.
Like it's still great, and better than pretty much anything since imo, but I like it less than the early Attitude stuff.
There's no Austin for most of the year, and 2000 is when they started going crazy with having writers scripting everything. I really don't care much for the Bryan Gewirtz brand of comedy writing.
I will say that up and down the card, the match quality does improve in 2000 by far, I can give it that.

Watching No Way Out 2000:
The main thing is a terrible crowd. Quiet except for the guys yelling boring.
Jericho-Angle was decent opening. Nothing special. Both are guys who need a better partner to make magic, and angle is still green, so it's exactly as good as it should be. Good, not great.
Dudley-NAO - bad match. Clearly Gunn is injured and this is writing him off for a bit. Bubba for some reason in the pre-match promo goes really southern US with hair accent, an accent I've never heard him do before or since. Which is such a shame as his promos have been great the last month. The match happens, NAO are faces despite all the main event booking. It's bad, its incoherent, it's boring. But at least the titles are back within the actual tag teams.
E/C vs Hardy's- probably good but the crowd is so bad. Actually Christian does some amazing spots and no one cares. Even here Christian is clearly the best in ring and no one gives him love. Terri turns heel. E/C probably turn heel. Its setting up better things but this is a miss.
Xpac/Kane is about to happen and this is a blood feud that really feels like it peaked before I even watched. Least the frowned kinda popper for Kane...

I'm at the post-No Way Out Raw and this show has been a breath of fresh air. The opening segment with Triple H, Stephanie, Shane, Big Show and The Rock didn't overstay it's welcome, unlike most opening promos of the era. The opening tag team match between The Hardys and the APA actually got time, the Angle/Rikishi match was a schmozz, but served to set up two angles for WrestleMania, plus it was the first time Rikishi and Too Cool invited other faces to dance with them! Edge and Christian vs. Head Cheese is sadly the same Al Snow shtick they've been doing since the night after the Royal Rumble, but of course there'd be filler. And now, The Rock is taking on the Brooklyn Brawler, because Triple H said he has to start at the bottom. And now we're setting up the evening's main event.
Finally, the pieces are falling into place.
