Wanted a longer title, but character limit.
Should Cody keep the title for the calendar year until Wrestlemania, or lose and win it back once or twice?
Just generally wanting the opinion of fans on what kind of reigns do they like.
WWE has a bit of a history of making top baby faces get booed by over exposing them and making them look invincible. Cena was not always super hated as a top face. People just got tired of his Superman schtick. Heels can get away with it, because they are supposed to be booed anyways, but its harder for faces to do. I do believe Austin/Rock losing the title regularly help frame the their stories differently and showed some adversity.
I think Rhodes losing the title once and having to win it back can keep him more fresh, but again, just my opinion. The reality is, Triple H has yet to book a top guy as a baby face, so maybe he can keep it fresh with his own creative

No. I don't think Cody is gonna have the steam to hold onto the belt that long, faces typically don't. Also, with all the absurdly lengthy reigns they've been having over the last few years I really think a couple of short reigns and title hot shots would be a refreshing change of pace.

Nah, we just finished a title run that went about 3 years too long. Plus they really need to move away from Wrestlemania being the only show where anything of consequence happens.

Nah, he can drop it at Summerslam, Survivor Series, or a big overseas show before 2024 ends.

Nah, have him lose the title at Bash in Berlin to GUNTHER or have him lose at Survivor Series to Solo in a redux of the first WWE title win of The Rock.

For the sake of doing it? No.
If it happens to organically make sense, sure, but I don't think he NEEDS a year-long reign, and really, no one does any time soon, it's been done, and it got old.

Yeah, SummerSlam should be the time to lose it to Gunther so you can sell last minute tickets to Bash at Berlin for his first PPV defense. Worked like hell for Rhea at EC this year so go for it.
You can build Cody as a guy having to go deep to defeat Gunther when he’s in a higher level or whatever.

I’d have him drop it to Gunther at Summerslam of Bash at Berlin but they are both on different shows now so not sure that’s actually in WWE’s plans. There’s no need for him to hold it for a full year anyway.

I’d have him drop it between Aug-Nov then regain it in time for Wrestlemania season.
I’d do it with Orton. A fair match at Summerslam that Cody wins. Go for a handshake but Orton snaps and goes heel. Have Orton bring back the punt to take Cody out for a few weeks and maybe imply he rushes back too quick so Orton manages to beat him. Then build to a 3rd and final match with Cody getting revenge and the title back.
And I just realized I basically described Drew/Orton in 2020. Face wins title at Mania, beats opponent at Summerslam, loses rematch at following PPV then regains the title to end the feud.

I would have him lose it at SummerSlam. He can win it back around Survivor Series or Royal Rumble. I don't think Cody vs. Rock or Reigns vs. Rock necessarily needs the title at Wrestlemania 41, though.

I like the idea of Solo grabbing it a survivor series and losing it back to Cody at the Rumble for the Mania match with Rock.

He's already at a point where I kind of tune him out becasue he never actually seems in any danger of losing. We're coming off too many really long title reigns. I think we could use just a tiny bit of hot potato-ing for a few of the titles.
