WWE boggles my mind as the once-mighty juggernaut of the wrestling industry has fallen to utter crappulence.
MTV has been s*** for years, as the only reason worth watching 10 years ago was Beavis and Butt-Head, and now its just Generic Rap Video 34728964382735 With Thongs And Rims or Road Rules vs Real World vs True Life vs Capcom Special Championship Edition.

MTV no longer plays music, so my rational is a bit backwarded. Music is instant gratification now. You could always get music when you wanted it. Turn on a radio, and there it was. MTV was more of a cultural symbol than it was a symbol of the music industry. Now with ipods, you don't just get music, you get YOUR music.
MTV made the mistake of thinking that it was still relevant to the culture, and so they kept forcing their same old crap on people. They've heard the criticisms of no music on Music Television, but they can't go back to music now. People who grew up on MTV are so far gone, that they won't come back. This leaves you with a 14-22 year old demographic. No buying power, and a short window. There's a reason most companies try to make a product that fits into an 18-40 year old window.

And building on what you said, there's no NEED for MTV to play music anymore. If you want a video you download it. If you want a song you download it. You dont need MTV.

These days, it's the same with WWE. If you want to watch an old match, theres WWE 24/7, or YouTube, or Vidilife, or whatever. Even the tv shows get uploaded on there by fans 90% of the time. So do we need anything? No, because there will always be another way to get what you want.

Or watch ROH, Noah, or pretty much any Independent Wrestling Company. Those guys usually work the hardest of everyone.

The only people I like are former WCW, WWE and ECW guys with a handfull of Japanese talent. I'd much rather watch Ric Flair or Hulk Hogan hit the exact same spots they've already done 6000 times in the past 20 years for 5 minutes, than a 30 minute flippy dippy "five star THIS IS AWESOME clap clap clapclapclap" match pitting The Phenominal AJ Benza against The Fallen Angel Christopher Robin w/ Winnie the Pooh in his corner any day. Thats just me though. Sorry though, didnt mean to turn this thread into my own personal wrestling preference information.

I do. But the one epsiode of RAW and Nitro they graciously provide you with a month is kinda hard to stretch out....I'd like it a lot more if the programming was archived and didn't "rotate"
That is, when its actually working, which it wasn't yesterday.
Its COMCASTIC!

Same here, I got into wrestling in the mid 80's and their personalities had everything to do with it, over the years it was easy to get used to the new ones because they were mixed in with my early faves-now, its just hard to get used to new people i guess

In 2002 I made the prediction I'd be totally done watching wrestling within 5 years, and I'd watched it since 1986. I'm cutting it reeeeeeeeeeal close...

Go on eBay and buy lots of old WWF, WCW and NWA videos. Unless you don't have the money right now. Then wait until you get paid and buy the videos.

As far as the rasslin goes, you need the current product to keep the older product relevant. People will download Duran Duran regardless of whether MTV is around. Never say never, but I can't see the same happening if the E folded up shop. Just my opinion though.

Or Amazon or online tape traders, etc. Don't put any money in 24/7. Buying old tapes is the way to go. Wrestling is dead. It will never come back. MTV was dead a long time ago.
