I have had an obsession with movies ever since I was young. I just love to watch them and see the acting (or lack thereof sometimes), the stories, and the sweet camera work.
As I've grown, so has my want to be in the business. So I have started watching documentaries, bought a "on-set manners" book, listened to interviews from directors and actors, and, mainly, I have been reading Movie Scripts. Does anyone else read these things? Some of the best movies made have really cheesy scripts that make you wonder how they got made.
After reading The Matrix's script, I can understand why Sean Connery was confused enough to turn it down. Other things, like cheesy Seagal action flicks are a kick to read, just to see how many times the writer capitalizes "BANG", "BOOM", and my favorite "KICK"!
Anyone?

I like movie novelizations better. Take, for instance, this excerpt from Caddyshack:
" 'Na na na na na,' said Ty."

Coproduced an indie film called Communication Breakdown which uses my script and my so called acting abilities. Currently working on a TV project. Are you wanting to write features, or just interested in reading them (as I am as well)?

Are you wanting to write features, or just interested in reading them (as I am as well)? I am wanting to write features as well as interested in reading them. Usually when I have free time from college homework I'll write some to calm down. Most of my little experiments are Sci-Fi, Action, Horror. I even go to a script tip website by William C. Martell (Who has wrote some cheesy action/sci-fi/comedy movies that ended up on Showtime.) Basically, when it comes to the movie industry I am a sponge, looking to soak up as much knowledge as possible. However, script writing has really caught my eye as of late. I need to sit down and finish one of my ideas to see if I can get an agent. Wow, I kind of went off into a ramble, didn't I? Oh well. Congradulations on getting something made. I have talked to a few bitter people on the internet who never have (interesting stories there, but not Forum Friendly).

I have a concept for a movie written down, but since I'm not much of a writer, I haven't started on a script. It's about a baseball pitcher who takes a liner to the head early in his career, then fights head trauma to make a return and have a long and successful career, befriending a young major leaguer along the way.

That could be the script that ressurects Kevin Costner's career. It's a good idea....the idea not the Costner thing.

Here's an interesting site for scripts (if you haven't found it already): www.script-o-rama.com/First thing to do is to learn the format and basics of writing a script. It's not as hard as people think (the format, not the writing itself).

They kind of rip off IMDB's name, but still have some decent stuff. Right now I am reading the script to Smoking Aces. I think my problem is the spacing between to end of one scene to the next. It seems to vary from script to script. I ignore sequal scripts for tips because they are normally contracted people who, I assume, can get away with errors.

You need a younger guy (possibly an unknown) who can then be made up to look older, and maybe grow a big mustache.

Actually isn't that what kinda happened in Costner's "For Love of the Game"? Does Costner die at the end of "For Love of the Game"?

I've been writing scripts for around 2 years. Completed four feature scripts and 2 short film scripts. Plan on shooting those two shorts over the winter and spring.
For all the screenwriters, what program do you use? Final Draft? MovieMagic Screenwriter? I use Celtx

I used Final Draft a little at a friends. I like it but it's incredibly expensive. Before Celtx, i used Wordpad. Worked pretty good using just align left and center button.
