I attended the Palm Springs Film Festival last week and watched Pans Labrynth, a new film out of Spain that some of you may have heard of. The film itself was great and truly Oscar-worthy, but the thing that stood out most in my mind was the main antagonist, Capt. Vidal. He's the kind of guy you hate and want to see get what he deserves. But in the end, you have to look back and realize how great of a bad guy he was.
I said to my colleagues that Capt. Vidal is the kind of villain you love to hate, like Darth Vader: Truly badass and ruling with an iron fist for a cause that he legitimately believes in, and not some fat slob who is only powerful because he has money.
So what I would like to know is, who are some of your favorite villains? They can be from movies, TV, books, comics, etc. Who are the best of the most hated?

I am eagerly waiting for this movie. Too bad it prolly wont play in my area.
My favorite villians would have to be:
-Khan (Trek2) -Two-Face (check Jeph Loeb/Tim Sale's excellent The Long Halloween/Dark Victory Batman books to see why)
I'll have more as I think about the question more.

Big Yes to both. Huge yes to Ricardo Montalban being a god of nastiness...and for paraphrasing/altering Moby Dick for his purposes... Gosh, this is a hard question. It's hard to beat the Joker in ANY of his incarnations, but especially Bolland/Moore's The Killing Joke. JEBUS he terrfies me in that.

And of course Shego and Erisi Dlarit ;D I only liked Mimette (sp?), the rest of them were annoying. Plus Mistress 9 > Death Busters. As for me, I'd have to go with Slade/Deathstroke of Teen Titans fame.

Scorpious from Farscape, if you thought Palpatine was a prick, this guy is as bad as him if not worse.
Tom Saerik from the NEW Battlestar Galactica, you would never think this is the same guy who was Apollo from the origional Galactica
KHAN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (sorry I had to do it )
Grand Admiral Thrawn, not just a bad guy but even James Bond couldn't outsmart this guys plans
Ysanne Isard (yes another star wars book villian ) lets put it this way, her and Palpatine were rumored to be lovers, nuff said
Ivan Drago, "I must break you"
Clubber Lang, god his promos were intense
The Predator from the Predator movies, c'mon anyone who can toss Arnie around like a rag doll deserves respect
Boba Fett, anyone who talkes back to vader and doesn't get choked must be mean
Jango Fett, c'mon, he owned Kenobi in a fight, shot a jedi like it was nothing then done the robocop gun spin, it took samuel L to take him down
Jack Dante (i think thats his name ) from Death Machine, evil and loony
Rico from Judge Dredd the movie

As for me, I'd have to go with Slade/Deathstroke of Teen Titans fame. I always thought Queen Nehelenia >>> Mistress 9, but that could be just because she was around for a lot longer. Kaolinte (Kaorie Night) and Eudial were awesome Deathbusters as well. Oh and the Amazoness Quartet were cool as well.

Videogame: Kefka (FFVI) - the laugh made me want to shoot him in the face, so f***ing evil...
Movie: M. Bison (Street Fighter) - Hear me out, it was due to one line when talking to Chun-Li... "For you, the day Bison graced your village was the most important day of your life. But for me... it was Tuesday."
Comic Book/Cartoon: Magneto (X-Men) - No character has made me love him/hate him/love him all over again like Magneto has, truly awesome.

The Duke (Escape from New York) Magneto Murphy (Costner in 3000 Miles to Graceland) Anarchy 99 (xXx... cooler than Xander Cage) Boss Hogg (how can you hate him?) Dr. Fu Manchu (my friend got me a DVD with some of the old episodes for Christmas the other year... great stuff) Victoria (so bad, yet so hot)

"Heroes and villians, just see what you've done done..."
Had to quote that. Anyway, I'll seperate by two in catergories.
Comic villian has to be Hades from Hercules. Great work by James Woods.
Evil villian has to be Scar.

The number one, for me anyway, is Adrian "Ozymandias" Veidt of WATCHMEN fame. Soooooo evil......and so BRILLIANT.
Leatherface (from the ORIGINAL TCM) Michael Myers (HALLOWEEN) Firefly Clan (Devil's Rejects) Tia Carrere in True Lies (God....an evil hottie....and her death scene was great)
There are more.....but those are off the top of my head.
