I watched the Angry Nintendo Nerd's review of Castlevania II, and while it was funny, I just don't remember the game as he does. I LOVED CV2 as a kid. I used to play it all the time after school. I loved the towns and having to buy weapons and everything. Now I haven't played the game since like 1989, but did it really suck and I was too young to realize it? Oh, and

It's not as bad as he makes it out to be.

Not a fan. It was an alright game, but it was trying to be too many things at once.

Yeah it was a good game. Total Classic.
ANN has admited on numerous occasions that he takes things way to far. He doesn't hate the games as much as he seems to. He just takes bad aspects of games and multiplies them so much for comedic effect.

he mentions it in almost every review, so there must be some real ill will between him and simon's quest.

Is the one you travel over Europe burning parts of Dracula? If that´s it, I loved it.

I feel that he made a lot of good, objective points about why CV2 is inferior to other games in the series. Granted, he was exaggerating and being silly, but he still makes a lot of valid points - points that kept me from enjoying the game even before I discovered the Angry Nintendo Nerd.

I like it
I think "Simons quest" to the Nerd is what "SVR:2007" is to me it's just TOO dissapointing

I really liked CV2. For its time, it was REALLY ambitious, plus it was the prototype for the type of CV that eventually became the masterpiece that is Symphony of the Night.

I loved it just like I loved The Legend of Zelda II. Sequels don't always have to be carbon copies of the original, sometimes great things happen when sequels take different directions.

To me, Simon's Quest is one of those games you love until you play it and you're like oh yeah that's why I quit playing this. God bless it for being a hybrid RPG type thing. But luv it for being so frustrating. Regardless, I really just don't have the patience for Castlevanias. The only one I've ever beat is SOTN.

It was a decent game. I liked the original & III over that one though on the NES.

I love Castlevania 2
BTW, when ANN talks about his confusion with the Oak Stake and the Cyrstal/Torando, I pretty sure both of those things were explained in the Instruction Manual

I didn't think CV2 was a bad game, but the puzzles were just not intuitive. Like the fact that you had to crouch down with various items equipped or whatever. Nobody would seriously figure that out. And the concept of talking to townspeople is cool, but I seriously don't think any of them ever said anything useful. They all said stupid stuff like "Will you marry my daughter" or whatever.
I think the Oak Stake was described, but I don't think the Crystals were. I think the manual just called the Crystals mysterious.

I liked it. Hell, the ANN admits that he liked it. That does not change the fact that there were definite flaws in the game that he highlights in his review.
