After viewing a thread at another forum, I've decided to post this question here, and see what WrestleCrap thinks of this situation.
Recently, both Jennifer Hudson, and Tyra Banks have been on the covers of magazines, trumpeting their weight loss success, and their slim new bodies.
Both women, in the past, have claimed to be "Proud to be big" and have claimed to be proud to be different from the stick figures you usually see in Hollywood. Banks, more than ANYONE, has been vocal about taking pride in her weight.
So does this sudden reversal of attitude make these women hypocrites?
Just asking......

Tyra Banks is one of the worst human beings on the face of the Earth.
I'm not even being mean, that's just the truth. Selfish bitch.

You tend to get this from female celebs.
When they are "big" in appearance (which often tends to be simply the normal shape for a healthy woman of that particular age and height) they say crap like "I am who I am and would never starve and be skinny!!!" but as soon as they lose weight and become part of the "rib-displayers" then they appear on the front of a magazine with the tagline "READ ABOUT (whoever's) AMAZING NEW STARALICIOUS FIGURE!!!!!"
Once you accept that the entertainment industry is phony, it's easier to understand.

I used to think that Tyra Banks was one of the hottest women on the planet.
Can't stomach her now, thin or not.

I'm just happy that Tyra as Danelle Fishel on her show That pleased me too....and then I think about the things she said to Danelle, and how she just turned around and did the opposite of what she said.....it just smacks of the "Do as I say, not as I do" attitude. And yeah, HRH. I guess they are all phonies.

I've never really liked Tyra.
She is one of the biggest hypocrites I've ever seen. On her show she'll constantly have obese people on her show, and preach the evils super models have done to regular women, yet modeling is the only reason why she's famous, and she STILL does models and what not.

Though I don't like the skinnification that women go through in Hollywood... let's face it. If they're not a size -1, they get slammed all over the place for it. Who could put up with that constantly?

Just about all these magazines have weight loss stories on them now, I think theres a new one thats just about weight loss. Tyra was upset when the press attacked her, and she may have been proud of her size, it doesn't mean she had to stay that way forever though

I think Jennifer Hudson shouldn't be in this argument anyway, as the weight she lost was weight that she PUT ON for the role in Dreamgirls.

Maybe it's just a "I'm proud at whatever weight I am!" type of thing. Like, "If I'm a little heavier, that doesn't give you the right to attack me, because I'm proud to be me, but if I lose the weight, that's great too!"
Just saying that maybe she wants to be happy at whatever size she is, but wouldn't mind being skinny, because after all, weight loss is good. Or, maybe she is just a a hypocrite, and I just like to think the best of people. I guess you'd just have to be her to know.

I'm hearing this too and I didn't know that she gained for the role. Hrrrrm. Anyway. The doublespeak of Hollywood never will stop. I'm ignoring it for the most part, since I figure that Tyra will eventually gain the weight back, and then she'll flip out again when some paparazzi snaps an unflattering photo, and we'll be back to square one. I agree though, that she should stop claiming she's happy with her body, since she so publicly wants to change it. Then AGAIN.....women are never totally HAPPY with their bodies. They find flaws that 99% of the time we men would never notice.

Tyra Banks is one of the worst human beings on the face of the Earth. I'm not even being mean, that's just the truth. Selfish pup. Totaly agree. I love when, on her show, she turns people's personal tragedies around to make her own self look sympathetic, then she starts crying, and has to be comforted by her guests.

Eh, in the case of Tyra, that IS pretty hypocritical. She made such a big deal about it, went to great lengths to say she wasn't going to concern herself with what the press thought, etc., and basically turned on that.
If the full story was that she gained the weight, but felt unhealthy (e.g. shortness of breath, more prone to sickness, possible mental effects (see Super Size Me to see how that works), etc.), then, by all means, get active and lose the weight.
However, more than likely, Tyra's story is probably the same as all the other "fat stars" who lose pounds: they don't lose the weight to feel healthy, to promote an active lifestyle, or to just feel better all-around. It's a purely cosmetic change, one that focuses more on "my thighs are too round!" and not on "I should work up a sweat more often to keep my heart pumping!".
That, I feel, is a big factor at the center of America's problem with losing weight. We're all so obsessed with the cosmetic aspects of weight loss, and we totally lose track of the REAL issue: cardiovascular, mental, immune system, and muscular health. A person can be 20 pounds overweight, but still lead an active/mostly healthy lifestyle, and a person can be right on target, but not have perfect health.
But, no, let's turn to Trimspa/pills, tummy tucks, etc., because, by God, you can't seriously expect me to actually get off my ass and exercise to lose this weight and feel healthier, can you?!
Ugh, sorry, but that stuff annoys the hell out of me. Back on the topic: if you really feel more comfortable with yourself at a certain weight, by all means try to attain it. Hell, I'm well on my way, but I haven't quite reached my target yet, so I'm continuing to work towards it. But don't make a big deal and act like you're fine with a different size if you aren't actually happy/content with it.

They find flaws that 99% of the time we men would never notice. If you want any idea of why that is, pick up a copy of Cosmo. Half their magazine is dedicated to telling women how butt-ugly they are without the right cosmetic/handbag/ugly outfit. And Tyra's weight has always fluctuated. Much like every woman.

Seriously, I am so f***ing DISGUSTED at seeing their commercials on TV.....especially on Comedy Central. Christ, just because I watch that channel means I have to be BOMBARDED with weight loss ads? And someone mentioned Kirstie Alley earlier. I find it funny that she's looking a lot curvier in her newest Jenny Craig ads with Valerie Burtenelli. Seems that just wolfing down Jenny Craig meals alone WON'T help you keep weight off! Who knew? Not bashing Kirstie.....she looks damn good with some curves. Just noticing the gain, is all.

The first thing I thought when I saw that recent Tyra magazine cover was sadly not "Man, Tyra's hot!" - it was "wait, I thought she was proud of her fat ass..."
The thing I greatly dislike about Tyra is how she seems to need to make everything on her TV show about her. Example: she had a woman with cancer on her show once and actually found the gall to compare that woman's fight with cancer to something trivial that happened to her as a supermodel once.

Yeah, that was pretty goddamned low. It's like, not everything has to revolve around/end up being about you, Tyra.
