FIFA soccer wins hands down... If you take away the official licenses and the graphics (that aren't that great either IMO... too pastel colours for my taste), the gameplay has been abysmal since the very beginning. The early versions were all about running with the ball... coast to coast without needing to pass, if not for your own pleasure. Then they decided to implement a passing system, so the game goes like: call for a forward, off the ball run, through ball to the attacker, one-on-one, goal. They tried to copy Pro Evolution Soccer's gameplay and controls but failed miserably... A waste of money and hard drive space on all accounts. DING DING DING! WE HAVE A WINNER!

Not really, maybe new appearances, but you're gonna tell me the characters aren't carbon copies of the ones before that, and the ones before that? Not only that but the storyline is almost always identical to the last with a very few minor changes. I really don't give a shit about the rebel guy going to save the girl who has secret powers.

Some of the Final Fantasy games are weak, I'll admit, but some are incredibly good.
I agree with GTA and MGS, and I've only played the first SvR (which I love) so I can't really comment on the later ones.
The Army Man games are just terrible. I think there was like one good one.
Now here's one I bet people will be like, "Huh?" over: Tetris. There are a couple good ones and about 15 bad ones. How can you f*** up something as simple as Tetris? Ask the various people that have tried to "improve" it.

The Warriors(Dynasty and Samurai) franchise isn't necessarily getting worse as they go, they make improvements, but it's like Madden, same exact stuff but with a few new people and SLIGHTLY better graphics.
Hopefully Orochi and Gundam will be better.

I remember that at one point there seemed to be a 'Army Men' (as in those small green plastic soldiers) game being released on a monthly basis for the Playstation and PS2. And I remember them getting some of the worst reviews ever in the videogame magazines. Some of those were FANTASTIC games, though.

GTA? Thems some of the best games of all time, espicially San Andreas... I think so too, but I accept the fact that their are some people who can't get into them. The only thing I hate is when people actually critique the players along with the games.

SvR definetely. No real alternative without modding and they just do some of the most bull-headed things with the franchise

^Meh, I dont think SDvR is crappy, but they make some WCW stupid decisions. Maybe I can understand not ADDING certain things in, but why take certain things out for no damn reason? Like being able to throw weapons? There aint no reason at all to take that out, but they did, and it didnt help nothing, just took alot of cool spots out... GTA? Thems some of the best games of all time, espicially San Andreas... I think so too, but I accept the fact that their are some people who can't get into them. The only thing I hate is when people actually critique the players along with the games. ^Yeah, but not getting into a game and calling a game/franchise is two different things...

Ok....time to bust out my list....
50 Cent: Bulletproof(yes, this IS a franchise, as they released a PSP sequel) FIFA Smackdown! vs. Raw(was great in the first game, but got worse as it went) ALL CONSOLE SONIC GAMES(besides Secret Rings, that actually made up for atleast all the GameCube Sonic games) Army Men All games made by KOEI(Dynasty Warriors and everything else) Tenchu(started out great, but lately...meh...) Tomb Raider(Actually, Legend made up for every game after the first one....) Madden MARIO PARTY!!!!!!!!!!! As fun as they are.....WE DON'T NEED A NEW ONE EVERY YEAR! Mario Party is Nintendo's Madden.....
Some I DON'T agree with are, Silent Hill, GTA, Resident Evil, and MGS. GTA aside, the other series I mentioned all have great stories, incredible graphics, and are just great games. Now...maybe the controls weren't so great(I actually admit the controls for RE, SH, and MGS SUCK, but still), but they are still great games.
Also, I don't think you can use the tank-control scheme of Resident Evil against the series anymore....because they fixed all of it with RE4(dispite pissing the fans off in the process, and brought a crap load of bandwagoners that never played any of the original games and only played RE4).

Pokemon has some questionable games and some great ones. I used to be a hater, but they are solid RPGs, so I can't hate.
Army Men was mostly bad, with like 3 pretty fun games in the series.
Dynasty Warriors isn't bad, just repetitive. The new DS game is looking sweet though.
Fifa doesn't need to exists when Winning Eleven exists and is so much better it isn't even funny.
Metal gear solid 3 is one of my favorite games of all time, it really is quite a lot different from 1 and 2.
Tomb Raider is the series I thought of when i saw this thread, but, I give them credit, once they changed development houses it got way better, Legend was a fantastic game, like a solid 8.
Final Fantasy - Well 12 wasn't a carbon copy in anyway, the story was not like any FF since the Snes days(it was about war and all those trappings, not love and such). And it shifted radically in game play, awesome game too. And Square made Chrono Trigger, which was awesomeness.
GTA is a lot of fun, I love the 3-d entries in the series, however, truth be told it is fun because they shove so much stuff in there, and the driving and shooting both are fairly lackluster. Many games do those better, but nothing meshes it all as well with story.
ok, this is a little different I don't mean it is crappy, but it is over hyped, that being Halo. Solid games, but the only reason they get as much love as they do is because until the Xbox, 3-d FPS games weren't done well on consoles, halo was the first one really to come close to being as good as PC games(and it can't touch a game like half Life 2, and many others), So yeah Halo was good, but it isn't the end all be all people seem to think it is.

Oh don't worry I will never pay full price for a DW game, I know better. But when i can snatch it for 10 bucks I will get the fun out of it I need.
