I saw this trailer yesterday. Considering there is not much competition around it has the potential to be massive when it's released this christmas. Here's the trailer.

I remember reading the book as a 6th grader, and it moved me greatly. I only hope the movie can do the same.

OH MY GOD, THERE'S A TRAILER NOW!?!?!??
Hold on, I have to go squeal for like 20 minutes.
Seriously, His Dark Materials is my second favourite book series behind the Harry Potter books, and you have no idea how excited this makes me.

Looks pretty cool, although I have to admit I've never heard anything about it before...

I remember reading this book last year during my english class, I never really enjoyed it but I figured that might be because it was in school. This trailer looks great and since I have the books upstairs I might just give it another try. Will this film be called the Golden Compass everywhere or just the US?
Also armoured polar bears are a brilliant idea. It will also be great to see how they incorporate deamons onto the screen.

You should see the trailer on the big screen, it looks soooooooooo good. I wish I could. I even got all teary-eyed watching it, which is totally lame, but that's how much I love these books, and seeing it so absolutely wonderfully taken from the books...I dunno. It seriously look absolutely perfect.

Will this film be called the Golden Compass everywhere or just the US? The cinema I work at is in England and that's where I saw the trailer. They might add "His Dark Materials" as a prefix, but it's trailering in a lot of big films at the moment so I doubt it will change. And I forgot to add, the screenplay is by Chris Weitz who wrote American Pie and he also wrote and directed About a Boy (which I love). He's also directing it.
