Sounds good, I'm all for stuff that's unique. Oh btw, I have no idea what a kei element is. Visual kei, actually...it doesn't really refer to a style of music so much as a style of performance and video...etc.

Something along those lines. Visual kei is mostly a Japanese thing, really. A lot of bands with widely varying kinds of music can fall under it, so long as they have a very visual element to them along with their music.

I'm not hip to that stuff. The only other Japanese band I've ever really got into is Boris and they don't get into all that.

And yeah, Boris is a pretty cool band. Not one of my favourites, but they're pretty cool.

We supported Boris last year, they were incredible. Walls of amps absolutely everywhere.
I don't think i've seen a bad Japanese band.

I was lucky enough to be able to catch Dir en Grey during their visual kei era...WOW. They were one of the best live bands I have ever freakin' seen. "Cage" is one of my all time favorite songs, along with "Obscure."
The Deftones have just become...so bad in recent years. Back when "Around the Fur" came out they were un-freakin-believable, now...they're just a bunch of older stoners.

Yeah, Deftones were pretty much the most boring, uninteresting live show I've ever seen. SO dull. And I envy you, SO much...I love visual kei...and I love Dir en Grey...I loved their VK era...and just...yeah, I hate you

They used to be great. In '05 I saw them with CKY and it was embarassing because CKY opened and just completely destroyed the place, and then the Deftones came on and played for like 15 minutes because they got heckled so bad for sucking in comparison. Yeah, about that hate...I SAW THEM LIVE IN THAT ERA AND YOU DIDN'T AHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. I actually prefer them now, though, as their sound has stepped up twenty fold and they're a MUCH better live experience.

Oh and for everyone wondering just how freaky Dir en Grey is... www.youtube.com/watch?v=rfhBWD3i6hk (Obscure). And yes, they're like that, all. the. time. EDIT: I suppose I should toss a WARNING on this before the mods kick me in the johnson. This video is like Saw/Audition/Ringu/Battle Royal/etc. A LOT like them.

I'm just glad I got to catch them live at all, as that was something I was pretty sure would never happen when I got into them back in like 2000. I never figured Japanese bands would come to the US really. And ESPECIALLY not Kansas.

Well I know right around when Vulgar came out they were talking about since they had totally dominated Japan, AND Europe, they were setting their sights on conquering America. They're doing a pretty good job of it to.
I'm keeping my fingers crossed for Rammstein to finally make it back over to the States.

LOL at me trying to eat my morning cereal during that video. Seems like a peculiar bunch. And it's good to see the artform of the bats*** insane video is not entirely lost.

That's probably the best song I've heard from them, as well.

Ahh, the Obscure video. I love it so much...it's so whacked out and insane.
And yeah, Cage live is amazing to behold.
