I wasn't aware anyone else had even seen it! Seriously, no one EVER talks about this movie. One of my favourites ever. I love comedies like this. I think the reason why its not brought up much is because the movie didn't do much in theatres. Yeah it made a profit, but not like AIRPLANE! or even ZAZ's later success NAKED GUN. The other problem with TOP SECRET! is that, how many people get the genre-jokes? The movie slaps at Elvis and spy/thriller movies....but its not as obvious as say the serious police procedural or the disaster genre. True enough, those kinds of movies weren't watched as much as the other sorts. However, I grew up on them, so all the in jokes were not lost on me, even as a kid.

I had seen this in the theater with my pothead dad back in 84. I have a place in my heart for this movie. It never gets any mention. I was shocked at how many of you have seen it. It does my heart good.

Man, I haven't seen this movie in years. I loved it as a kid, but I can't remember too much from it. For some reason though I still remember the bit of the guy looking through the magnifying glass and then he pulls it away and you see that the guy just has a friggin' huge eyeball. lol
I have a strong urge to go buy this now...

Awesome movie. I found it when I went on my Val Kilmer kick and had to own every movie the man ever made. Enjoyed all of his work until that chick flick he did, the one where he was blind. Haven't seen a thing he's been in since.

"Nick... Interesting name, what does it mean?" "I don't know, my father thought of it while he was shaving."

First of all, I'd like to mention how sexy I thought Lucy Gutteridge was in this movie.
Secondly, I like the scene where the dude pointlessly breaks the only remaining piece of glass in a window in order to shoot through it.
;D

My wife thinks I am retarded the way I start giggling out of the blue, thinking about the cow wearing rubber boots. Real Genius is another less talked about Val classic. Not a spoof, but he has a Chevy Chase/Ryan Reynolds type delivery, and it is hilarious. How about the scene with the "nursing" calf? Real Genius is epic, in my mind. It is one of my top 10 of all time.

The East German National Anthem!
"Whether you run or take a jump at the wall, forget it the guards will kill you if the electrified fence doesn't first."
Also anyone else notice that the guy they rescued was Alfred from the Batman movies? Him and Val Kilmer together again in Batman Forever. hmm. odd.

Haven't seen a thing he's been in since. Mate, try SPARTAN. From director David Mamet (playwright of the legendary GLENGARRY GLENN ROSS), Kilmer plays an American "Spook" sent out to rescue the daughter of the President. It sounds generic, but Mamet and Kilmer deliver maybe the most underrated film in the action cinema of the last 5 years. Its that good.
