Well, my town is like, halfway underwater at the moment...the first time anything like this has happened in my lifetime...and I gotta say it's pretty insane. People around the edges of town and the low parts have had to evacuate their homes...luckily places have been opening up as shelters for people to come to. I can't believe all this. We have to restrict water use and everything at the moment due to the pumps and everything going crazy. Here are a few pics from the flooding here in Independence: This isn't too far from my house. Probably about 5 or 6 blocks. Going out near the end of town. Also not too far from my house, street leading down by our ballparks and some apartments... View from the other side of that. The flooding is so huge you can barely see that bridge on the other side of the pic. Highway just outside of town... So yeah, you pretty much can't get in or out of town right now 'cause it's so bad. So yeah...if any other crappers are being flooded or have had to evacuate their homes, here's hoping everyone's okay and you'll all come back to us safe and sound. And for those who have managed to avoid it for the most part like me...well, I'm glad you're okay. Just thought I'd share some firsthand experience with the flooding going on right now.

It isn't flooding here, but for more than 17 days straight, it has rained in Oklahoma(not non-stop, but for 17 days, it has rained on each day).

Oh, if we are sharing some flooded experiences, then I'm gonna have to have a flash back to when I was a wee little lad of either 3 or 4. It was raining like never before, and the sky was a greenish-blackish-brown. We were driving in the southern part of Oklahoma City, past the Stockyards(a part of the city that is 100% cowboy themed), and we got caught in the flood when we went down a hill. We were able to drive up to higher, and dry, ground , and stayed there until the flood had passed. And this was raging rapids kind of flood. The water was moving VERY fast. Definitely enough to carry children off...and kill them if they smashed into something.
The best thing about this flood was, it hit a nearby McDonalds that had one of the kiddy play areas, and several of the plastic balls from the play area floated down to us. So I got free balls.
But from that moment on, I get a bad feeling whenever I see the sky turn that color. Even more scared when I see the "eye" in the sky. The eye is a discoloration from the rest of the sky that is sort of shaped like an eye. It signals that it is a huge storm.
Then again, I've always been lucky when it came to Oklahoma's deadly storms. If you guys want, I can tell those anecdotes as well.

Thanks for the well-wishing guys.
And yeah...when the sky turns that colour...it's always a bad sign. It happens here really frequently. Generally we tend to avoid tornadoes though...they usually skip or jump our town because we're in a valley.
There is little that I have experienced that is more frightening than watching a tornado pass OVER your town though.

How about a tornado passing right by your house and it does nothing to you?
Happened to me twice...want me to tell y'all about my close calls with tornados?

I didn't see it in this town, but in another one. And I've seen them whilst traveling...the midwest is a f***ed up place for weather.

Its been raining here many many weeks here as well. No flooding in my area, but I don't live that close to a river or lake where the flooding is happening here.

Has the flooding reached the insane level it did in the summer of 93?

Has the flooding reached the insane level it did in the summer of 93? Nope, it's not quite that bad yet, which is VERY good...and I doubt it'll get that bad.

Here in STL, when ever it rains like that for days and weeks at a time, the Mississippi flooding is always a concern. Like in 1993 when the Great Floods destroyed a ton of property and what not here. Hope everything calms down where you are.

Ok, time for my tornado anecdotes.
The first one was...hell...I don't remember the year, maybe 94 or 96, but basically, it was a big major bad jojo storm. Lots of tornadoes landed and stuff all over the state, and my family was all huddled up, hiding from the storm, when the siren at my elementary school(which was right down the street from us) went off. We braced for the worst, when out of nowhere, the siren stopped. We went to bed shortly after. The next moring, we found out that a tornado landed in our backyard, and all it did was rip down our cable line and moved on.
The next one is even weirder. It was just a normal windy day, no one would think a tornado would show up. The tornado siren didn't even go off, but out of nowhere, this little white F0(in other words, Jobber) tornado goes spiraling down the street. I was standing at the front door looking at it. I literally said, what the f***? Oh, and I was 8....
Hope you guys find those amusing.

Wow, that's pretty bad. I know there's been huge flooding here in the U.K the last week or so. So some of the other British crappers may be water logged Not me, I live on a hill. Some of those in the north of England would be the worst hit though.
