I think that cartoon was based on a movie too. I don't feel like looking it up right now.

Awesome, I used to love this cartoon. I always wondered though, why did they make Egon blonde? Maybe one of the artists or animators wanted to debunk the stereotype.

The story of the "other" Ghostbusters TV show. In the 70's there was a live-action TV show called "Ghost Busters" about two goes and a gorilla who went around and investigated ghosts and all. So when Aykroyd and company wanted to make the Ghostbusters movie, the company that owned the Ghost Busters name at the time didn't care since it had been a long dead franchise, and let them have rights to the name. After The Ghostbusters we all know and love become such a boxoffice smash, they wanted to make a TV Cartoon about it. BUT they didn't get the right to TV, so the owners of the original (I think Funimation) Ghost Busters name now realized what kind of name power they had. They said they'd make the cartoon, or they want give the rights, but the producers of the show we know wanted... I can't remember the company but a different one. So then Funimation made a cartoon to the old 70's show featuring the kids of the original characters to use the popularity of the name. Meanwhile, the Ghostbusters we all know went into production as "The REAL Ghostbusters" as both a loophole and a shot at the other show. If any of the small details are messed up, please feel free to correct me anyone.

Egon sort of got a weird hairstyle too. Like he wants to be Little Richard or something.

The characters changed for the show because they had the character rights, but not the likeness rights of the actors.
A lot of times they will make big changes so there is no way possible to mix them up then, to protect from law suits.
For example, Minority Report had a game, but didn't have Tom Cruise's likeness right so they made the main character blonde.

Ah i see, I guess thats why in the Terminator Dawn of Fate game the Infiltrator had a goatee to distinguish it from Arnie.

Is the guy who does the voice for Peter the same guy who did the voice for Garfield?

I like the fact that Bill Murray's character had the same voice as Garfield did in the cartoons.
Then, years later, Bill Murray was the voice of Garfield in that live action movie.

My brother and I used to watch this show religiously. Kind of cool that 2 episodes were extras on the Ghostbusters film DVD.
