The story of the "other" Ghostbusters TV show. In the 70's there was a live-action TV show called "Ghost Busters" about two goes and a gorilla who went around and investigated ghosts and all. So when Aykroyd and company wanted to make the Ghostbusters movie, the company that owned the Ghost Busters name at the time didn't care since it had been a long dead franchise, and let them have rights to the name. After The Ghostbusters we all know and love become such a boxoffice smash, they wanted to make a TV Cartoon about it. BUT they didn't get the right to TV, so the owners of the original (I think Funimation) Ghost Busters name now realized what kind of name power they had. They said they'd make the cartoon, or they want give the rights, but the producers of the show we know wanted... I can't remember the company but a different one. So then Funimation made a cartoon to the old 70's show featuring the kids of the original characters to use the popularity of the name. Meanwhile, the Ghostbusters we all know went into production as "The REAL Ghostbusters" as both a loophole and a shot at the other show. If any of the small details are messed up, please feel free to correct me anyone. Filmation, not Funimation. Filmation's the same folks that did the He-Man cartoons, too.

I used to get so excited everytime the Filmation Logo would come up on the screen, because I would think HeMan was coming on, then it was the ghetto ghostbusters. What a letdown.

I actually liked the other Ghostbusters toon alright too. I liked that they had recurring bad guys.
Plus one thing I absolutely hated about the Real one is the role Slimer played. Even as a kid I hated the comedy relief characters. I didn't like Orko either.

Yeah I knew they did He-man to, I don't know why I had Funimation on my head. I'm not even gonna worry about going back to correct it though. On Youtube I subscribe to everyone who has the openings and episodes of old cartoons. I'm under WadeDeadpoolWilson on Youtube. Meaningless Note- All my screen names are 'Pool names!

Switching gears to the comics, I really wish that new ongoing series happened like it was supposed to. All I ever saw was the mini-series.

I probably would have liked it if I wasn't horribly disapointed by that spark of hope that it could be He Man. It's like going to a movie and seeing a preview for a movie you would way rather see than the one you are at.

Good show.
But I think the animators cocked up the Ray and Peter characters. Ray in the cartoon looked closer to Bill Murray then the Peter in the cartoon. In fact the Peter in the cartoon looked more like Dan Aykroyd then the Ray in the cartoon.
Or is it just me?
And Winston should of had a mustache.

I been wondering this ever since I was a kid, watched it religously every saturday morning. Damn, those were the days...

I loved this show.
I even loved Extreme Ghostbusters later on because of my love of this show.
I had all the gear, a lot of the figures, and I think damn near all the vehicles+firehouse.
I had a chance to pick up some Ecto Glow RGB figures (rarrreeee, on card) but they weren't in my price range at the time, now I so regret not snagging 'em.
