So I'm listening to the Redux edition of "Enemies of Reality" by Nevermore which basically is a remixed version of the original as some fans thought it wasn't mixed correctly the first time around.
I must say, some of the songs do sound totally different which kind of shocks me.
Anyway, are there other bands that have done this? Put out the same album twice but cleaned up or with extras or some kind.
Now I don't mean 20th anniversary additions, or gold editions which is literally the same thing twice, but stuff where they go back and fix an album.

I don't know if this is exactly what you're talking about, but I'm a bit pissed off at the Smashing Pumpkins because they are releasing a total of three versions of their album this coming Tuesday....
Target has an exclusive album with a unique bonus track for 13 total tracks. Best Buy has an exlusive album with another unique bonus track for 13 total tracks. Everywhere else will have the regular album with no bonus material for 12 total tracks.
If it was one exclusive song to one distribution company, that'd be one thing, but now we have to pick which song we don't want as fans and realize that there are some who will actually buy all three version just to say that they have them.

almost every Nine Inch Nails album is followed by a remix album right? i.e. "The Downward Spiral" then "Further Down the Spiral" or am I crazy?

"Still Cyco After All These Years" ~ Suicidal Tendencies also springs to mind, though that was more or a total remake as opposed to a remix.

Still not as bad as AFI's last album "Decemberunderground" which had like 3 or 4 different versions with a different extra track each... Lostprophets originally released "The Fake Sound Of Progress" on their dime, but after they got signed, the album was re-mixed (not remixed) to sound more professional... It really did them good, as the tracks I downloaded sounded pretty bad...

Actually that went back to the Broken ep which was followed by the Fixed remix. And then there was Further Down the Spiral. After that was Things Falling Apart, the remix album for The Fragile. And then there was the With Teeth remix ep.

i hate Roadrunner Records for this.
"Buy Slipknot's new album this Tuesday!"
*6 months later*
"Buy Slipknot's album now with 6 bonus tracks!"
Me: Wait...6 more songs could've fit on there? Why not put them there in the first place!

The Beatles often released US and UK versions of their albums.
I know Rubber Soul for sure and a few others, which I can't recall.

Why do i remember this, well i remember my sis getting p'oed because of it (That was annoying).

I love how the bridge riff in Enemies of Reality fades from the right channel to the left. It's awesome with headphones. Meshuggah did the same thing with Nothing. It must be a Nuclear Blast thing.

Strange that out of all the songs on the Enemies, the song that they changed the least is my favourite, I, Voyager. That song only seems to have gotten a bit of polish compared to the others that got a total over haul. I remember first hearing that tune on the Metal station of the digital music stations and I knew I had to have every album they ever made.

The ska band Catch 22 recorded the record "Keasby Nights".
Then, the lead singer of that band formed another band called "Streetlight Manifesto" and rerecorded the entire "Keasby Nights" album with his new band.
Not quite the same as having the same band do the album twice, but pretty damn close.
Oh yeah, and someone mentioned Suicidal Tendencies redoing their original, self-titled LP in it's entirity on "Still Cyco After All These Years". I heard they did it because the original LP (which had ccome out a decade earlier) was out of print and Mike Muir couldn't get the rights to it to rerelease it on his own. So he just rerecorded it with Suicidal's 1993 lineup. I prefer the original.
They also redid a few of their other older songs ("Possessed to Skate" comes to mind) for the greatest hits album "Prime Cuts".

Not quite the same as having the same band do the album twice, but pretty damn close. That's the one that popped into my head. But at least they did it so Victory wouldn't just re-release the CD with a new cover and screw people. I'm sure the other C-22 members were pissed though.
