Have you ever read this list? What a joke. the top 250 movies ever? True classics like "Rocky", "E.T." and "Superman" are nowhere to be found but "Ratatoulie" is #44??? Give me a f***ing break!

That'll happen when a movie is in its first few weeks. Sin City debuted on that list at #1.

I thought it was a great list.
Godfathers 1 and 2, Pulp Fiction and Goodfellas all in the top 25.

Overall, it's a really good list. As stated previously, during the first few months of a good film's release, it's skewed pretty badly. Sometimes it stays that way, somestimes it doesn't.
If it bothers you so much, sign up and give Rataoulie a 1. That's how to "fix" your broken system.

Yeah, Transformers was at like #244 when I looked at it the other day.
When a movie first comes out and people are all hyped for it, sometimes it'll make an appearance real high on the list.
But usually after awhile they drop off the list.

The Godfather is the greatest film ever made and it's #1 on the IMDB list. The list is an absolute good.

Godfather 2 > Godfather IMO I disagree. Yeah, well you're not allowed to. Cause I am totally more right than you. Plus I was in the mob for a bit, so, like, I pretty much know, ya know, like what would make a good mob film. Which is why I can tell you that this... Is better than the first 2 godfathers combined.

I hate to say this, but IMDB Top 250 is a popularity contest.
Popularity Contests usually cook up crappy picks. Thats the downside of it.
For every PRESTIGE, PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN is on it.

Doesn't the fact that a movie gets a lot of people to like it mean anything? My point is, I liked PIRATES, I really do, but its not in my personal Top 250. The list is a popularity contest. I'm just making a point that people on this thread complain about it, but the problem is of the nature of the list in itself. It is satisfying when a damn good film, but not necessarily box-office cooker does make the list. It means that thousands of people around the world think its worthy of the list. I'm not saying the list is worthless. It has its pros and cons.

I mean, the fact that the Godfather movies are 1 and 3 tells me these people aren't totally full of crap.
