Hey there.
I've recently started straightening my hair, and a couple of times i was in a hurry and straightened it whilst it was slightly damp, and i think i've accidentally singed it somewhat, it's now just brittle and crappy.
So is there anything i can do to get it back(products etc), or wait till it grows out?

I haven't had this experience, and I'm male, but I've bleached my hair quite a bit. You could just try conditioner specifically for brittle hair (well, there's a different word for it, but you get what I'm saying).
Haha, I know this was for the chicks, but I've fried my hair a whole lot, and I've used a lot of conditionners.

Future advice - you don't straighten your hair when it is wet unless the straighteners specifically say they can do that. It damages your hair as you have found.

How long would it take a guy with a shaved head to grow his hair to like cm punk length?

condition.. condition.. condition..
You may also want to try one of those hot oil treatments ? I've never tried that, so no promises. Hair is tough though, it'll rebound as long as you stop straightening it while wet, condition it and maybe think about getting the dead ends trimmed off.
Hair is forgiving.. mine lived through the 80's. Crimp, spray, crimp, tease, spray, repeat. Daily.
You can also try to check into some dietary supplements that help with dry hair issues. I think Iron is one of them ? Leave in Conditioners are good too. They make a product called Mane & Tail Conditioner, carried in grocery stores.. originally made for horses, but it works fantastic on people's hair too.

I straighten my very curly hair everyday and when it gets really dry I use this crap and I would venture it is the best thing out there now. It's made with animal placentas, but completely humane. I know that's totally gross but it leaves your hair so soft that it's worth it. If you want I can PM you the brand.
Never, never, never straighten your hair wet. Don't buy those wet to dry things either. It's a waste.

It actually just smells like regular shampoo.

Yeah. If you need something for even more sensetive hair, use dandruff shampoo. I recommend Suave For Men 2 in 1 Dandruff Control Shampoo/Conditioner. Long-winded, yes. It'll heal your hair faster.

Aussie has a heat protection spray that usually works well on my hair. I just spray some on before I use the iron.

How long would it take a guy with a shaved head to grow his hair to like cm punk length? My hair was Randy Orton like and I started growing it out. That was in Feb. of 2006. Today it is a little more then half way down my neck. My hair is also curly and I straighten it. My hair grows quite slow, so it might be a quicker process for you. Its not Punk length, but I do have a pretty sweet James Storm like ponytail thing going(just not as long as his).

It's weird, I have really straight hair which won't hold anything and I'd kill to have some curls. All my friends with curly hair straighten theirs and would kill to have my straight hair. Guess it's the grass is always greener syndrome. But more on topic, I've tried the hot oil treatments and they're ok. I used to dye my hair which is rough on it too and it's really down to getting a conditioner that works. I use TRESemme that has added vitamins which is supposed to strengthen hair.

Finally, being a cosmetician comes in handy on here!
Anyways, Nexxus makes a great product called Emergencee. It's a deep conditioner that helps repair your hair. I would recommend using it in along with their Therappe shampoo and Humectress conditioner. I know, Nexxus is very pricey, but their stuff is well worth the money. It works and the ingredients are very high quality.

Is there something that can straighten your hair and it stays that way for a while? Cause I mean whenever I take a shower my hair gets REAL curly and stuff from the moisture or whatever, and I was hoping there was some stuff you could put in to keep it like that so I wouldnt have to wait for it to dry THEN straighten it...

My friend bascially did what you're planning, and just accepted that for a couple of months he'd look like a tit, he's glad he did now.
Also i'd love to know what you can use to stop hair going curly when it goes damp, cause mine's a joke at the moment and as it's the wettest "summer" ever here it would be highly useful.

Also i'd love to know what you can use to stop hair going curly when it goes damp, cause mine's a joke at the moment and as it's the wettest "summer" ever here it would be highly useful. Before straightening your hair, make sure your hair is completely dry and then use the flat iron, especially in the summer. I use any product labeled "humidity blocker", but the downside of those is that they are silicone based and can make your hair really heavy and make it look greasy faster. I've used a lot of products in my life, but what I ALWAYS have on hand is Dove Smooth and Soft. It's only about 4 bucks for a bottle and really honestly works. There is also different levels of that one product for how frizzy and dry your hair is, so you can judge for yourself. I usually just try it on in the store. What I do is I put it in my hair after I towel dry, then let my hair air dry until it's about 70% dry. I then always use a blow dryer with a comb or brush at the end like this. Using a blow dryer with a brush on it like that really takes out a lot of the puffiness because you are forced to dry your hair from the top of the hair shaft down. This also makes drying faster. When my hair is completely dry I straighten it and put the Dove in again. Helpful hint to using any product, work from the tips of your hair up to the scalp with the product, you need a lot less product on your scalp then you do on the ends of your hair which is more fragile and dry. If you have short hair, work from the back and sides of your head up. I also reccomend using a heat protecting product. Almost every brand makes it now and IMO they are all mostly the same.

So I'm in for a stretch of awkward looking hair for the next year while I grow it then? definetly.i call this "the awkward stage".i had it long for 3 years, cut it last summer and started growing it out again in march.i'm still in "the awkward stage" for about another month or two i think.important thing to remember is as bad as you think it may look, just keep going, you'll get over that mountain and onto hair greatness!ha.
