Are you waiting for the fish to get on the bobber first? i watch them swim to it, and the bobber goes underwaterand starts getting dragged away WHY DO THEY HAVE SOMETHING THIS ANNOYING SO EARLY ON It will make a noise once its on the hook and the controller should vibrate.

I never had this much trouble with it.
Cast out, and hold your controller out. Let the bobber go all the way under water and before it gets to low snag up QUICKLY and hold it there. If you take to long the fish will leave and you have to wait again.

I've never had to wait on the fish, when it's about halfway submerged I just yank it up and always have something

But you have to do it when it's being pulled, not after it's fully pulled. If it just comes up it either means it's not being pulled under or your pulling up to late. Work on the timing?
