And it's really good. The first 30 minutes is some of the best stuff they've come up with in ages. I won't spoil anything, but there is one of the best ever gags involving Bart and a Skateboard. The middle 20 minutes slows down considerably. But the final 20 minutes makes up for that and then some. The animation is just stunning and to finally see the opening titles on the Silver Screen actually brought a lump to my throat.
As a huge Simpsons fan who has waited years for this film, I think it delivered the goods. It's certainly not the best film ever and there are some gags that just don't work. But the good by far outweighs the bad. If I was to rate it, I'd give it 4 stars.

I spoke in generalisations. The film lasts 87 minutes in the UK. Dunno about the US. The end credits last for about 10 minutes though.

wow only 70 min, seems short That's like 3 1/2 (maybe 4, now that you mention) episodes.. I think. Not bad. Seems like fun will be had, but at a costly price of the eeriness of newness. I think I might go.

Very much looking forward to this Friday. Haven't been to the movies since I went to see Number 23, but this one looks like it might actually be worth going to see.
I might even get my son to sit still long enough to watch this one as well.

How is it compared to recent horribly unfunny seasons of the show?

I don't think the recent seasons are horribly unfunny. So I can't compare it.

Press Screening?
