Saw both these in theaters, thought both were quite groovy moving pictures on celluloid, was ready for them to come out on dvd. And now they're coming out the same day. As if an already crippling dvd addiction wasn't bad enough. I may have to choo-choo-choose one t'row, and get the other at some point in the future post t'row. It's a regular Sophie's choice, or at least it would be if I was going to have to decide which one to leave behind to die. And I as named Sophie.

I have one, simple statement to make:
Tim Dalton. The choice is clear.

I'd buy Hot Fuzz. Despite it being visually amazing, I think it feels too long. I never felt that during Hot Fuzz. Not only that but it Hot Fuzzy has Timothy Dalton.

Get Hot Fuzz. And hopefully you'll have the outtakes feature with Timothy Dalton swearing like a sailor on the US dvd.

Hot Fuzz. 300 made enough money that they could print the DVD on laserdisc, beta, VHS, HD, and even blu-ray. So you can always get it later.

You make a compelling case good sir.
In fact, that's the new theme of this thread- give me advice on which dvd to purchase and which one to leave behind. Kinda like a Slim version of a choose your own adventure book.
if you think Slim should go with Hot Fuzz turn to page thirty six
If you think Slim should pick up 300, turn to appropriately enough page three hundred
if you think Slim should try and find the magic sword of grayskull and thus have the power, choose copyright infringment.

Page 36 is, thus far, unanimous.

HOT FUZZ in a landslide.
Fact is, Pegg and Wright actually catch the cliches and the stupidity (Michael Bay) of the action genre as only they can do best.
I mean, I can't ever watch 300 again without of thinking of the SOUTH PARK joker episode.

300 for being epic.
Just rent Hot Fuzz and record it to VHS, circa 1985.

I just saw Hot Fuzz for the first time the other day after watching The Simpsons movie (my buddy gets early rentals because he works at Hollywood Video). I figured I'd enjoy it since Shaun of the Dead was great (Pegg and Wright have great chemistry), and Hot Fuzz turned out to be much more entertaining than The Simpsons IMO. I was laughing my ass off for pretty much the entire second half of the movie. When Danny goes all "Keanu in Point Break" at the end, I had tears in my eyes. Funniest film I've seen in a while.

Id go with Hot Fuzz. I saw both and Hot Fuzz is the kind of movie I can watch over and over. 300 was good, but its one of those movies I can watch maybe a handful of times and im good.

Hey the copyright infringment page is blank... how could you!
...anyway 300 was good... but Hot Fuzz is one of the greatest movies I have ever seen... so get Hot Fuzz for the greater good.

Hot Fuzz , I have it already on DVD. The best is to watch the whole film with the "Fuzz Facts" on. giving subtitles of all references to other shows, films and characters. This is usually every other five seconds

I just thought I'd let all of you know that, in the battle of 300 vs. Hot Fuzz, I wound up striking a mighty blow in the name of the NWA. In other words, I bought Hot Fuzz on Tuesday. Still as awesome as it was when I saw it in the theater.

What I love about HOT FUZZ is, yes its a joker on action movies, but unlike most parodies of the action genre.........it doesn't sneer at it or turn its nose down at it. I mean those filmmakers love the genre. (though BAD BOYS 2 sucked hard, but thats besides the point)
An action genre-joker that does turn its nose down was TEAM AMERICA (and as seen numerous times on SOUTH PARK).

heres how it is
Everybody will own 300. if your short on funds and NEED to pick one. pick Hot Fuzz for now, cause i guarentee you will be able to find a copy of 300 from one of your friends.
I will buy 300 because last week at a hotel i rented hot fuzz so 300 isn't as fresh
btw buy both when you get enough funds
