I loved toonami when it had the lava guy from space ghost hosting it (can't remember his name at the moment) hell they even made him 3-d and he had the same voice actor from SGC2C. it was kinda funny hearing him comment about DBZ and crap.

No one mentioned He-Man and the Masters of the Universe, circa 2002? OH YEAH. That was short lived, eh? I kinda liked it though.

HOLY CRAP Moltar DID host! Back when they did the block with Godzilla and Sailor Moon and DBZ and etc! Wow. Thanks for that memory jogger. Yeah, it'd be a tie between him and original Tom for the best hosts.

youtube.com/watch?v=7PUDqhlLopMgood times I think Williams Street did used to run Toonami before Tom and all that. I know they mentioned something like that on Adult Swim before.

Toonami needs heavily edited versions of Ranma1/2 and Lum*Urusei Yatsura.

CN used to have a good balance. Toonami for the kids, adult swim for the...adults. Now they both suck. I've moved on to anime DVDs because I hate dubbing, and especially censorship. Honestly, when they start substituting lines like "I'm gonna kill you" with "I'm gonna stop you" it's time to move on.

I miss it cause it was just cartoons for a more mature audience. If they stuck gen1 Transformers and Ninja Turtles on there along with Thundercats, mixed in with a few top quality animes at night then it would have beent the PERFECT channel

I used to like Ranma 1/2. Just wanted to get that out there. I also like Ranma 1/2. And by the way, I don't think there's anything wrong with boys liking shoujo anime. As a guy, I've watched some myself, notably Fruits Basket, Marmalade Boy, Card Captor Sakura to name a few.

I love shoujo personally. Though honestly most of the anime I get into these days is either shoujo or just not really gender specific. Though some shounen stuff is still appealing, a lot of it ends up very generic either combat shows or adventuring shows.
We need better stuff on TV than that.

I just remembered Blue Sub No. 6 and Gundam 0080, Mobile Fighter G-Gundam, and The 08th MS Team were all also on Toonami at one point.
Whoops.

Anybody remember Ronin Warriors?
Anyways, I was into some anime. Mainly DBZ, Tenchi Muyo, Outlaw Star, Ronin Warriors among others which escape me right now after I entered a major funk in 2002-2003.
I'm thinking about buying some Anime DVDs, especially the Muyo Series set. I had crushes on Ryoko, Tenchi, and who was that dumb blonde cops partner?

I miss the old versions, yes. Back when anime was hitting its stride in the US. Of course....Toonami sort of lead to the idea that all anime, just like all video games, are meant for kids....which it is obviously not, but that's for another thread at another time. And that is when all anime started to go downhill. Hark back the days when animes were underground ultra violent films, full of gore, profanity and nudity. Anime lost its edge because of Toonami and just became another cartoon.

Toonami was great, I used to work out during DBZ as a sort of injoke to myself cuz they were always training on that show. I was so glad that they finished up Sailor Moon (sans Stars) on Toonami as well, they had stopped airing them for years till Toonami showed up, then they dubbed up the rest and showed 'em, just like DBZ actually.

To me it was when Megas bit it Toonami became worthless except for Naruto.
Adult Swim is better with the anime, and to be honest I think Sci-Fi is even better than that. I have yet to see them do a BAD show, but nothing truly great either, whereas Adult Swim its some semi-good anime to match every 2 absolutely horrible ones.
When it was daily it rocked. DBZ, Reboot, Tenchi, then later on Samurai Jack and Megas...oh man that was good stuff.

Oh man, I love Sci-Fi's anime. Felix, just watch the anime shown on Sci-Fi's Ani-Monday to see that anime is still pretty adult oriented. I mean, the Highlander anime movie they showed alone was....wow.
