I feel sorry for the coach, and he has an extremely legitamite reason, but banned is banned.
He should have went through the league and asked for permission first. A few MLB players have done that for their ADD.

A high school kid with lupis wouldn't be playing in the NFL or MLB either. I was in the hospital before and they had to give me steroids because my throat was closing up (this is a long story for another time). So I know what you're talking about, but it's not an illegal steroid they use. I'm saying he should be able to use the stuff, he should have just gone to the League first to let them know what's up to. If he did that, and then they said no... then I'd say they are out of their minds.

I don't know what the rules and regulations that are in high school. I'm talking about this coach on the Cowboys. Like I said though, if it's a banned substance, but they need it and go to the board or whatever to let them know what's up it should be okay. Are kids with Lupis really playing contact sports anyways?

Chucklehead, I basicly agree with you. He shouldn't have been suspended if he needed it. I'm just saying he should have been upfront and let the league know to avoid any miscomunication and suspicion. And by the way.... I like the fact that this guy is named Wade Wilson.

This shows the flaws inherrent in any zero tolerance policy.
There is always going to be exceptions to damn near any rule..and rational human beings should be allowed to make judgement calls when appropriate.

He needed to take medicine for his ADD, so being banned, he went (or wrote or whatever) to the office and got special permision to use it. There are a few other players who did the same (infact I think it was Craig Biggio or someone on the Astros who told Adam about that). I still don't think a coach with diabeties should get susspended, no. But I do think he could have done more on his part to keep the situation clearer.

But now that they know the story behind it it should be a non issue. Some people think they have to punish everyone equally to uphold the legitimacy of the rule..I personally think common sense should be used and judgment made on an issue to issue basis.

I believe Hollis Thomas was hit with something similar to this at the end of last season. He had a legitimate health issue but didn't tell the league about it.

I still don't think the man should be suspended. I'm purely talking about, he has to take his share of the blame though. There was more he could have done, and he didn't. I just don't know. Zero Tolerence has both pluses and negatives. In one hand what you say IS true. On the other hand, doing it otherwise leaves to much room for playing favorites.

I agree with that..which is why the decision makers would have to be accountable to a broader group of people who would be able to call them on their hypocrisy, overturn decisions and even replace the person in charge of making the decisions.

Its not just Goodell, Paul Tagliabue did this to Hollis Thomas of the Saints last year as well. He was given a steroid inhaler by the Saints team doctor to control his asthma and he was suspended 4 games for it.
This also shows that WWE isn't the only one suffering from the internet pharmacy stuff either. Since Wilson got it from there, that wouldn't surprise me if that was the biggest basis of his suspension.
