Due to my strict 'no junk food' eating style, and my fear of getting fat, I haven't touched a hamburger in 15 years. However, I'm craving one today, for some reason, so can you guys recommend a good one?
Yes, after work, I'm planning on running on the treadmill for a couple of hours to burn it off.

Even though I would've told you to stay away from them 10 years ago, Hardees (Carl's Jr) now makes some of the best burgers, although all the choices so far are also good

If he has been eating healthy, he really wont want to do that. THose things can destroy a fairly normal junk food diet stomach. a healthy one...that does not end well. As is proof of the field trip I chaperoned.

Culvers Butter Burger I can feel my arteries clog just staring at that, and with a name like Butter Burger...yeah, I might need to go to the docter when I get off here.

I had an amazing burger on Saturday from KFC. I forget what it was called, but it had chicken, a hash brown, bacon, cheese, lettuce and sauce.
It was Godly.

As is proof of the field trip I chaperoned. Eh... skip all of the namby-pamby semi-edible stuff, and go straight for the Slider... I wish we had White Castle in the UK. My best junk food journey was in NYC last November, on a freezing night... started out in a bar on 9th Avenue with fries and an approximation of Spanish food... then another bar with free popcorn... then Papaya Dog for a hotdog and some papaya juice... then White Castle for onion rings and a slider... then finally back to the apartment for a three-egg bagel made in a drunken state.

We don't have White Castle here in Texas, so I've never tried one of those

Well, if you want to make your own I suggest the following: 73/27 ground beef (meaning no more than 27% fat) caramelized onionssauteed button mushrooms *or* one grilled portabello cap your favorite bleu cheese on an onion roll with a pepper spread. You can make the pepper spread pretty easily at home by spreading a little bit of mayo on both buns then putting a good amount of fresh cracked pepper on it, or else spring for a $2 bottle of A1's Cracked Peppercorn sauce, mix it with mayonnaise (twice as much mayo as the A1) and spread that on one bun only. It'll take a bit of time to make due to the caramelized onions, but it's not nearly as fatty or unhealthy as going out to get a burger at a fast food place. Oh, and you could substitute ground turkey for the ground beef, but if you're craving a burger I'd stick with the ground beef. If you end up liking the burger just start making it with ground turkey if you want the healthier alternative.

Carls Jr (might be Hardees for you) Six Dollar Western Burger (if you like BBQ Sauce)
Otherwise, Carl's Jr Six Dollar Burger.
