I mean seriously, dude was Snake Plissken for pity's sake. After being on a real Russell kick of late -picked up both Escape from New York and Big Trouble in Little China for five bucks each over the course of the last week; and since Tombstone ranks right at #2 in my all time fave flicks; and I can't wait for Grindhouse to come to dvd- I decided 'twas high time to give the man accolades right here in this very forum of offtopic type things. Celebrate the man.

Goldie Hawn?
But he was in Tango & Cash, one of my favorite 80's action movies ever.

Celebrate the man. Amen, Kurt's the man. Plus, he has guts, for a supposed "action figure," to act like a total wuss or be totally useless. Egomaniacs would have a problem with that, but not Kurt. Don't forget ESCAPE FROM LA and Jonathan Mostow's fun BREAKDOWN.

Hell Overboard, Captain Ron, the guy can do it all. I actually liked Poseidon because of him and like you said about him not having an ego I thought getting killed off in that movie would be something most 'stars' wouldn't have done

MacReady from "The Thing" rules all.
Except Snake.

That helps.* Plus, since Gene Hackman similarly jobbed in the original POSEIDON picture, they had to follow suite. *=Too bad Josh Lucas is the new Steve Guttenberg.

He was in 'The Best of Times'. What more can you ask for?
Oh yea...and he used to play minor league baseball for the El Paso Sun Kings...making him cool by default.

Aside from the movies already mentioned, I thought he was pretty awesome in Executive Decision and Dark Blue.

Let's not forget he made the character of Jack O'Neill in the Stargate universe. He's very good in that role. Albeit Wyatt Earp in tombstone is still amazing cause of his portrayal.
"See that Ike? It says US Marshall, which means it's legal [to kill you] now."

THe hockey reminds me of miracle. Another great role by Russell. When the team gives him a whip for christmas, he just says, "Ah, the gift that keeps on giving." To which leaves the team screaming NO!

He's rock solid in most things he is in.
I am a huge fan of The Thing, big Trouble in little China is all kinds of fun and well everyone likes Snake Plisken.

He is awesome! If I ever get my eye put out, I'm totally taking that Snake Plissken look. Used Cars was a hilarious movie and he's also played Elvis!

Escape from LA -
Snake is confronted by two bad guys and challenges the both to draw - but only after the signal (a tin can thrown into the air - when it lands, someone says "Draw!" and the gun battle can begin) Snake agrees this with his foes, the throws said can high in the air. Both men watch the can sail into the air. Snake draws and shoots both men dead while they watch the can. Both men fall to the ground, dead. The can hits the ground. Snake: "Draw."
Gold.

I mark for Kurt Russell because "Kurt Russell" were Walt Disney's last words before he died.
