Here are seven of my reasons:
*The influx of hip-hop and synthetic "music" *The "Me" Generation is stronger and more selfish than ever *Television has been ruined with reality programming and an abundance of discouraging dramas *The media is morally void at an incomprehensible level *More violence and less concern and respect for life *Poor influences are seen as role models and heroes *Bush leads the U.S., Harper leads Canada
Sadly, there are many more.

* The internet has led to people whining too much * Reality TV has warped the general public's appreciation of the notions of "fame" and "celebrity", not to mention "worth" * The consolidation of the media into one not-so-neat, not-so-impartial package continues apace * Too many Starbucks outlets * I agree, texting is no way to keep in touch with people * I have more "friends" than I have ever had in the past, but less real "friends" * The internet seems to have increased and disseminated the worlds store of knowledge, but in reality this has been accompanied by a massive increase in editorialisation of knowledge

Didn't really agree with that article. I find people who tend to agree or come up with that stuff appear unable to get on in the 'real world'. I can't say I've ever really faced any of the problems they list there. The world changes, you have to roll with the punches.

I mean, I'm genetically unable to be miserable, coming from an intermingled line of fat laughing Romany Irish Mediterranean Jews, but there is stuff that annoys me, as you see above.

#6 is so very very true. In every possible way we're better off today then anytime ever, but you wouldn't know it by the way people talk. I can't stand that.

America is on a thirty to fourty year cycle of failure. The 70s, the 30s, the 1890s, the 1850s-1860s, the 1810s. (Although, historically speaking, the '20s are always a great time to be alive.) Didn't the Venture Brothers teach you anything? Failure is simply the inability of the rising generation to live up to its overinflated promise.

Even though the 90s were cool, 21st Century > 20th Centurary. Lot more cool stuff and the majority of people aint nearly as ignorant and stupid as they was in the 20th Century...

7. The overall dumbing down of America. Wouldnt say America got dumber. I mean atleast people arent rushing out and rioting to buy stupid pointless things like Furbys and Tickle Me Elmos these days... Nope, but they are chopping the penis off of fans who cheer against their football team. Even though the 90s were cool, 21st Century > 20th Centurary. Lot more cool stuff and the majority of people aint nearly as ignorant and stupid as they was in the 20th Century... Holy shit! I damned near pissed myself laughing at that one. Here are my 7: 1) The conspiracy theorists on the net: The net can spread all tons of stupid shit to billions of people. People eat this shit up and believe in it. 2) The non-conformist: They tie into #1. They are against everything that is mainstream. They are so against the mainstream that they start believing in the dumbest shit imaginable. Yet, they call normal people sheep. 3) Emo Americans: I dont get why some people hate their parents so much, even when they go out of their way to be nice to their children 4) Increase rise of gullability: Again, people are too god damn lazy to do research on their own. So they allow the Michael Moore's of the world feed them pure bullshit, and they believe it as if it were gospel. 5) Terrorists: Seriously, f*** those assholes. I cant travel for fun as much as I used to because those dicks screwed things up. And when I do, I usually have some Asian woman giving me the reach around to make sure Im not carrying a weapon of mass destruction 6) Extremist ideologies emerging in Canada. I remember, 10 years ago, people weren't distinctly Liberal or Conservative. Now, people are clearly identifying with one party, in a rather unhealthy way. 7) The bleeding heart politicans who are too politically correct for everyone's own good. I hate how the minority wins over the majority populous (again, here in Canada).
