It's the story of a cartoon character named Roger Rabbit who exists along side of real humans. Eventually, it is revealed that Marvin Acme, the owner of the Acme Company and of Toontown, has been murdered! But all fingers point to Roger Rabbit, a Toon star at Maroon Cartoons. But unfortunately the only person who can prove Roger's innocence is Toon hating Eddie Valiant, a washed-up, alcoholic private detective who is reluctantly forced into helping when Roger hides in his apartment. It's up to Eddie to clear Roger's name and find the real evildoer before the villainous, power-hungry Judge Doom goes on a mission to bring Roger to justice! www.youtube.com/watch?v=uzopfNC2P6s - trailer www.youtube.com/watch?v=WswD1djENJE - opening cartoon www.youtube.com/watch?v=caevxBZA0bY - deleted scene

How I've never seen the whole thing I'll never know. Way on top of my "movies to watch" list.

Roger Rabbit: "No! Not my Jessica! Not pattycake! It can't be! It just can't be! Jessica's my wife! It's absolutely impossible! Jessica's the love of my life. The apple of my eye. The cream in my coffee."
Eddie Valiant: "Well you better start drinking it black, Acme's taking the cream now."

He's the 1 fella at Disney I want my picture with but ya never see him. Well he's got that ride at Disneyland, so seeing him there might be easier to pull off than seeing him at the Magic Kingdom nowadays. Although at one point Roger was EVERYWHERE here.

One of my favorite movies ever.
My uncle tells me stories now about how I watched this movie over and over and over when I was 6 or 7 and could recite every line.

Very true, but I went in June & also in June 2005 & neither time did I see Roger. I did ride his ride though. Weeeeee!!!!!! And when we watch the Disney Land Sing Along Songs, he's singing in like every damn song. He was everywhere. Last time I seen him in the park was June of 2000, he was a backup dancer for a parade because the parde was celebrating 45 years of Disney land & had every single character in it. He was towards the back with the 3 Pigs.

Touchstone is part of Disney, so Roger Rabbit is marketable to kids!
I loved this movie. End of story.

I was at the Magic Kingdom for the 22nd anniversary and Roger was the "grand marshall" or whatever of this Mardi Gras themeed parade that they were doing then. I got this big purple coin handed to me with Roger's face on it and some other kind of text. I must have it somewhere in my house.

Shame that a sequel looks less and less likely over time.

Here's a good question:
Would you have liked the movie as much if Eddie Murphy hadn't turned down the role of Eddie Valiant?

Here's a good question: Would you have liked the movie as much if Eddie Murphy hadn't turned down the role of Eddie Valiant? For me that would depend on what Eddie Murphy I would have gotten in the film. Toned Down Eddie Murphy, sure. Off The Wall Eddie Murphy, probably not. But Hoskins was so perfect for the role it's disconterting to put anyone else in it.
