I've noticed a few folks seem to be interested or play this game. Plus I'm sure others have played and since given up so without further ado let the posting begin ... - Favorite card, format, old vs new, colour, block, art etc ... all can be discussed. I started back when 4th edition came out and lasted up until Mercadian Masques, then kind of got back into it around Ravinica time. Although I kept an eye on it in between. Oh and for those wondering Hurloon is this guy ... While Lorwyn is the latest block which is about to be released.

what's actually known about Lorwyn? all I know is that they're taking the series back in a more traditional fantasy direction again.

I like most cards with art from Richard Kane Ferguson. I'd say my favorite periods are Invasion and Kamigawa blocks My favorite discard technique.

I used to love this game back in high school. I really should get back into it again.
But when the game became more about getting such-and-such card that was worth $200 bucks or whatnot, it got dull.I actually stopped a fist fight between 2 of my friends because one of them thought the other stole his Demonic Hordes card (worth $100 at the time), and it actually fell down between the seat of his car.
Terrible.

It looks to be a bit celtic in terms of background, so think elves, pixies treefolk that sort of thing. Here's the some of the land from that set ... island & swamp I have that card, but these days it's more relaxed draft a few booster packs and let the fun and games begin, I keep it casual.

I used to play it and actually still have a lot of cards from when I played and collected. Thinking of selling them on Ebay. I know it got real annoying when as a younger kid I would try to play against one of the older guys that would be able to spend way to much on them and i was lucky to get 1 pack a week if that.

what's actually known about Lorwyn? all I know is that they're taking the series back in a more traditional fantasy direction again. There introducing a new card type, planeswalkers. Not much is known, but here are the basics. The card shows up when you solve the acrostic on the planeswalker minisite, with the minisite also providing this shred of knowledge: Here is an exclusive planeswalker rules preview: Creatures can attack planeswalkers. If a creature does attack one of your planeswalkers, your creatures can block it as though it were attacking you. If a planeswalker is dealt combat damage, it loses that much loyalty. Additional deductions: -This is a spell. (It has a casting cost.) -This is a permanent (It stays in play after being cast.) -This can be destroyed/targeted with permanent/planeswalker destruction/manipulation cards. -This can be destroyed when its loyalty dries up. (As it can be 'attacked') -The numbers on the left refer to the 'loyalty cost' of each ability, but it may be too soon to speculate on the qualifiers of each.

I played from The Dark to just before Mirage came out. I played a LOT of Green. My other color was Blue. My favorite card? Force of Nature. (Add some Giant Growths and Lures... muu ha ha) Favorite Things to Do? Maxed out Killer Bees Lured Basalisk Lured Craw Giant + Giant Growth(s) My all time favorite moments all involved using Blue though: Dude that's AWESOME *control magic* Oh noes! A 20 point fireball! *counterspell* There was something fun about shutting people down and pecking them to death with Prodigal Sorcerers.

It looks cool, but I always thought the player was the planeswalker. Anyway I assume the 5 in the bottom right is it's starting loyalty then. Only 5 mana, that's quite cheap for it's abilities. -- Ah yeah Craw Giant, got to love tha guy (despite his ridiculous casting cost, lol) Rampage ... never really took off, lol.

Used to do the tournaments started on 3rd edition and collected all the sets in between up to and including Weatherlight. Some favourite decks we used to play: Rat decks - Plague, pestilence, black didn't matter what they did justget em in the deck. Grind decks - Jesters cap, Millstones, anything that ripped your library into your graveyard and then a quick Tormods crypt to lose that stack. Prod Deck - any card that did 1 point of damage, where is that Prodigal sorcer? Burn - Shame Channel fireball combo got banned, gotta love one turn kills. Vanish deck - Everything we had phased and when it was out it was Wrath of God, Tsunamis etc that destroyed anything and everything in play then back came my stuff next turn I was always a fan of the "BIG" guns - Lord of the Pit, Cosmic Horror, Leviathon, Collossus of Sardia and Polar Kraken were the high upkeeps in our day and not forgetting the Legend Dragons. Favourite card was Royal assasin: Was tapping and killing loads with him in the day except those blasted Seraph Angels Where is Bigheadinc? we had discussed and suggested alot of WWE style cards based on magic. I particularly liked the Spririt Squad 1/1 but gain +1/+1 for every other squad member in play.

I used to play blue...boy did my friends hated me with my Counter spells and Control Magic (I loved when my brother gave me his shivan dragon, he was so pissed) types of cards...I think that about half of my deck consisted of these types of card..had a few air elemental and mahmati djin..and that was about it! I played from the 4th edition until...a little bit after mirage.

I used to play this. The new sets came out fast and furious so eventually I went broke and couldn't afford it anymore.

Who wants to buy mine? I actually sold my slivers deck that I never used on ebay a few months ago. Here's my favorite Card:

I don't like the new cards. They're too good, and can sweep any old school deck.. which isn't fun and constructive at all. I like anything up until the Mirrodin block, and I'm being nice about it. RK Post is my favorite MTG artist, and here are my favorite cards: Psychatog Mirari's Wake Wild Mongrel Avatar of Woe Counterspell Dark Ritual Squirrel Wrangler I'll post more later... this thread makes me want to play again!
