On Tuesday morning, I was using my computer when it froze. Ctrl+Alt+Del wouldn't work, so I did a manual shutdown and restarted it. But it wouldn't boot up. I've tried the following:
1. Unplugging the power source and holding the power button in for 1 minute, in order to rule out a static electricity problem. 2. Unplugged the monitor to see if it was dead; it wasn't. 3. Disconnected everything except for the monitor, keyboard, and mouse.
I've tried to restart it multiple times in hopes of getting it to work one last time so that I could retrieve my data (MP3s, photos, etc.), but to no avail. At times, the power button glows green, and other times it's orange.
Any suggestions? Also, I have a working laptop. Is there a program I can use to get into the hard drives, or is that completely impossible? Any help is appreciated.

I had a similar problem, bugged me no end. Turned out that one of the cables connecting the hard drive to the mother board was a little loose, also spiders had set up home in it. Check the internal connections/ infestations.

Have you tried pouring mountain dew all over it? Don't listen to him, that's stupid. You need to use Tab, as indicated by the Tab key on your keyboard. It's there to remind you. Drink Tab.

Could be a number of things: power supply, memory, hard drive.
As far as the hard drive goes, the data can be taken off if you have access to another desktop. It's not difficult but may not be easy if you've never done it before. PM me if you want to give it a try.

But you should check your cable connections first.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the help! Instead of messing with the connections, I think I'll just drop the thing off at Best Buy and have the Geek Squad look at it. I have a lot of info on it and don't want to accidentally screw anything up.

I hope you have a warranty on it for Best Buy. They are not cheap at all.

Not booting up eh? Check the cmos battery on the motherboard. Battery remembers configuration. Looks like a watch a battery.
Was your clock time off before that?
I just changed mine last year. Never really cheap for a battery. Around 6 bucks for the little things.
