Upset of the Week: Appalachian State 3:46 says I just whipped Michigan's ass. The score: 34-32 Upset of the week? Upset of HISTORY. That is the FIRST time a team ranked by the AP has lost to a D1-AA school. Can we say..... OVERRATED?!?!? As if Lloyd Carr wasn't feeling the pressure already... Appalachian St. is a very good I-AA team. Won the last two I-AA titles and their sophomore QB has been compared to Michael Vick (for all the good reasons). But still, no I-AA team is supposed to beat a ranked I-A team, let alone the #5 team in all the land.

I'd venture to say that was the biggest upset in the history in college football.
A Division I-AA team defeating the number 5 team in the nation. In arguably one of the toughest places for a visiting team.
Lloyd Carr should be fired tomorrow morning for this. He can't beat Ohio State. He can't even beat a I-AA team who practically gave away that game. But you don't fire coaches in September, so he'll probably just coach out the year.

and (checking Michigan's 2008 schedule) no chance for Michigan to get revenge next year (unless they try to schedule them right now)
This is awesome!!

And I agree, the Big Teneleven is waaaaaaay overrated. I think it's just because it's made up of a lot of huge state schools, with many alumni and fans that influence the nation's perceptions of the teams.

I'll stick with my previous statement being that I know crap about any of this. I don't want to make myself look like an ass. lol it's ok. it's more of the overhype that the big commentators give to Big Ten/Big 12/USC. Hell, even the SEC doesn't get the love anymore. it's stupid. Not really, Big 12 really does not ave much more then SEC. I just hate the love for PAC 10. I live in East Texas, I want either Big 12 or SEC Games. What Do I get today? Cal UCLA USC No UT No TT No A&M No Clemson No Arkansas etc

ESPN's website says they're broadcasting the game, but with my luck, I won't be part of the region they're broadcasting it.

Michigan goes down and I'm happy. Now I get to watch my team, California Golden Bears, TAKE DOWN SOME VOLS!
VOLS HUNTIN'!
I seriously have no idea as a kid why I liked Berkley, but now I can't turn back on the team from NoCal. I think I thought as a kid that 'California' was actually California; I didn't know what 'USC' or 'UCLA' meant, so I guess I thought California was the Los Angeles team.
Then later I found out what USC and UCLA were, and I couldn't start cheering for them. I would of felt like I was turning my back on Cal, and I still cheer for them today!
GO CAL!
GOOOOOOOOOOOOO ~ ~ ~

Arizona State? GO SUN DEVILS?! He means the Appalachian State Mountaineers. I know. I was playing off the 'no one knows what Appalachian is'. I was going to say West Virgina but heh. Good job to them, though. I never actually saw it since I was out, but I do give them credit for a nice ending with a tremendous block.
