Captain Britain - Brian Braddock is a superhero appearing in the comic books published by Marvel Comics. The character has been used in stories through the years by many people, most notably Alan Moore. The character was meant to be the British equivalent of Captain America. Endowed with extraordinary powers by the legendary magician Merlyn and his daughter Roma, Captain Britain was assigned to uphold the laws of Britain. Originally, Captain Britain's powers were linked to the Amulet of Right, worn around his neck. When Brian Braddock rubbed the amulet he was transformed from an ordinary mortal into a superhero version of himself, complete with a more muscular physique. Merlyn changed his costume just before he entered the alternate Earth-238, fusing the powers of the Amulet and the Scepter into a new uniform. Brian Braddock has superhuman strength, speed, stamina, durability, reflexes, senses, and the ability to negate or direct gravity, which permits him to fly. He also possesses enhanced perceptions that allow him to be aware of things others may miss (such as objects cloaked by spells of illusion). The energy that powers his abilities is drawn from inter-universal space and friction. He is the fraternal twin of Betsy Braddock aka Psylocke. He is the leader of the superhero team Excalibur who are based in Britain.
vs
Sauron - A Marvel comics super villain who ususally has to dealwith the x-men. Sauron is the alter ego of Karl Lykos, sharing a Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde relationship with the physician. He is an energy vampire who resembles a humanoid pterodactyl after feeding. He often inhabits the hidden prehistoric jungle the Savage Land. Karl Lykos was the son of an explorer's guide. As a teenager, he accompanied his father to Tierra del Fuego as the elder Lykos guided a weathy client named Mr. Anderssen and Anderssen's young daughter Tanya. While defending Tanya from mutant pterodactyls, Karl was bitten by one of the creatures. During his recovery, he discovered that he could now drain the life-force of other organisms. He found himself repeatedly tempted to use his new power. In pterodactyl form he is superhumanly strong (able to lift approximately ten tons) and possesses the ability to fly at a natural winged flight limit. In battle, Sauron has several additional weapons: a lethal beak and sharp talons on his hands and feet. At some point prior to his New Avengers appearances, he acquired an additional ability to breathe fire, which he used to burn the second Black Widow in revenge for shooting him. He also has a powerful hypnotic ability that requires direct eye contact to complete. He frequently uses his hypnotic power to give his victims terrifying delusions that allies have become monsters. He can also mentally enslave people to do his bidding, although his control is not perfect, as Portal proved resistant to his commands.
Captain Birtian is the man of the hour! Well he is if your English, lol. He has my vote.

FAQ:
- The contenders were chosen mainly by me, but I also had a thread for nominations of more obscue characters.
- In the previous two tournaments on this topic the winners have been Spiderman & Doctor Doom
- There will be no comedy, TV or Manga creations in this tournament (e.g Dr. Who, Captain Caveman, Hong Kong Phooey, Akira or Dragonball.)
- I haven't put any groups in as each villain or hero should have the merit to stand on there own.
Rules
- First to 4 votes wins. (After 3 rounds it will progress to 5 votes for the next two rounds, at the quaters it will be 6, the semi's 7 and the final will get a couple of days.)
- 256 characters will enter ... they will be spread roughly between hero and villains ... with a few Vigilante/anti-hero's thrown in.
- The main selection will be from DC & Marvel ... however a few from other independant comics have been included.
- In case of characters who have had multiple people in there roles, use the general basis of that character. (e.g. Green Lantern, Flash, Baron Zemo etc)
- I will try to update this as swiftly as possible.
- I will be voting as well.
- The matches are determined at random.
- IMPORTANT! - Vote on who you like the most, not on who would win in a fight.
