There is debate? There is only 3 BATMAN movies that I would consider "good." The best is BATMAN BEGINS, followed very closely by MASK OF THE PHANTASM and BATMAN RETURNS. Penguins with rockets = lame. ;D and the villain being the star of BATMAN, reducing a title character to being a supporting player in his own movie is ok?

1989. Keaton/Nicholson. Great acting. Amazing set design. The best Batmobile. One of the greatest villains ever comitted to film. And a beautiful and memorable score that every comic book film since has tried to copy.

I'm pretty "meh" on the whole Burton/Schumacher series. Agreed Begins was the best one and I can't wait to see Dark Knight especially to see Ledger's performance as the Joker. I like how he looks thus far, exactly how I'd have him look also i hope in DK they start the whole two-face storyline for the next film, most likely they will since Moroni and Dent are in the film.

"Batman Begins" hands down. Not only do I consider it the best Batman movie, but it is IMO the best superhero/comic book movie ever made. Batman '89 was great for it's time. I think I saw it in the theater at least 8 times that summer, but most of the points rra made I agree with, The two Burton Bat-flicks just don't feel right. To me they're not really Batman movies. They're Tim Burton movies that happen to feature Batman characters. Does that make any sense?
The less said about "Forever" and "B & R" the better!

Hell, its funny but the villain actually has a proper origin, while the hero is given only a flashback sequence that has a cheap tie-in with the villain. The movie is a decent popcorn action picture. BATMAN BEGINS's first two acts is a myth, and absolutely damn satisfying to the point that it actually made me give a s*** about Batman again. Now that's power. I mean, I liked Burton's first BATMAN picture as a kid, but you know what? People who still pick it as the best Bat picture ever, I wonder if nostalgia is at play.

i wonder if Dent has the split personality thing in "TDK" like in "B:TAS"
That led to an awesome moment when he said "You're Talkin to the Harvey"

Its much sooner, and no I don't know if it'll work or not.

Batman Returns. Loved Danny Devito and Christopher Walken in that film.

Batman's origin is extremely simple and easy for anyone to relate to. You didn't need any more information than you were given. He's not a supporting character. He's got more screen time than anyone else. His origin isn't given as much attention as the Joker's, but so what? So this movie is unique when put up against every other super hero film. Someone did something different. How dare they!? I'll take the uniqueness. I like my Batman to be a dark shadowy figure. He shows up at night and kicks the crap out of evil doers. I don't need to know any more than that. But again, you have your opinion, and that's totally awesome.

I find it difficult to choose between Batman (1989) and Batman Begins. I voted for Batman (1989) for nostalgia reasons.
