This can be both Horror and Non-Horror.
I remember watching Stephen King's 'IT' when I was about 8, and it seriously traumatized me. I had to sleep with a light on for months, and now whenever I'm in a video store and I see the front cover of the VHS (never seen it on DVD), I cower a little. I still say that movie is 100 times scarier, even know, than any of the tripe that comes out today.
Anyway, post some of your scary child movie experiences.

Ok. I'll admit it. Child's play scared me away from horror for many years. yep Chucky.

Jurassic Park, for the scene of the severed hand falling on the woman' s shoulder alone. I was like 7 or 8 when I saw that and it kept me away from this movie for at least five years.

An American Tail
First movie I ever went to as a kid in a theater I think... the cat scene with the rain and thunder scared the hell out of me and made me cry so my mom took me home.
That's honestly the only example I can think of.

When I was about 6 or so, I begged my parents to let me watch Night of the Living Dead. They did, and I made it about 10 minutes into the movie till I saw this and ran away crying:

Watership Down - A animated film about bunnys. Not as cute as it sounds. The scene in Empire Strikes Back were R2D2 appeared to have vomited freaked me out for some reason. I did not realize then he was just flushing swamp water out of his system,

According to this screenshot, it seems to have pretty good special effects for the time.

I definitely recommend seeing it. Stay away from the colorized, 3-D, and other non-Romero versions, but the original is a MUST for any and all horror fans as it basically created the zombie film genre, and the cinema zombie that we're all familiar with today. The 1990's remake directed by Tom Savini is good as well, in my opinion, though nowhere near as loved.

I always hated clowns with a passion...
Then I watched IT.
Down here, they ALL FLOAT.
Oh jesus just shoot me now before I remember the whole movie and freak myself out.

I'll get this one out of the way..... I, like every other kid, loved Pee Wee Herman growing up and loved Big Adventure, but they really mess with your head in this movie. For instance.... youtube.com/watch?v=_RJT07D8scI

You can track it down pretty easily, as it's a public domain movie. In fact, I'm willing to bet it won't be hard to find streaming online somewhere.
