Rasheed says NBA "wanted'' Cavs, LeBron in finals Saturday, Oct 27, 2007 7:09 am EDT It may have only been the end of the exhibition season, but Detroit Pistons forward Rasheed Wallace was in mid-season form. "I still don't think they (Cavaliers) beat us, we beat ourselves," Wallace said. "And I think we also fell victim to that personal NBA thing where they are trying to make it a world game and get (television) ratings. They wanted to put their darling in there (the NBA Finals) and they did, and look what ended up happening. "This game ain't basketball anymore, it's entertainment," Wallace said. "It's starting to get like the WWF. There ain't no real wrestling anymore either. It's all fake." ======== This comes from the same player who got the Pistons to wear world title belts the year after they won the NBA title (2004)

Yep, either that or some editor at Yahoo thought WWE was a typo.

Someone needs to tell him that it's WWE. Though, he does have a point about how the NBA badly wanted LeBron James in the NBA Finals.

After what happened in the Spurs/Suns series (the Amare/Diaw suspensions), I'll never accuse the NBA of trying to get a particular team into the Finals. Maybe the refs are shady, but Stern and the NBA as a whole are not.

Didn't a NASCAR driver or something call the organization fake like wrestling, too? I remember posting about it a while ago.
Eventually, all real sports will be considered fake, and then we'll go to the next logical evolution:
ROLLERBALL!!!!!!!

I got a friend who thinks all sports were fixed and that pro wrestling was "sacrificed" to draw suspicion from other sports.

I forget why he said it, but it doesnt surprise me he said something like that. As far as the topic at hand, while I believe that the powers that be in the NBA probably wanted the Cavs in the finals, its not like they did anything to effect the outcome of the games. I look at it the same way as Im sure the MLB big wigs wanted the Red Sox in there over the Indians because they might be better TV ratings.

Living in Detroit I have a love/hate relationship with the guy, kinda surprized we didn't trade him in the offseason. But I think I'll pick up these shoes soon.

Yes because the NBA wanted the Spurs to win and bring the ratings down. They want them like the NHL wanted the Devils to win those times.

Yes because the NBA wanted the Spurs to win and bring the ratings down. They want them like the NHL wanted the Devils to win those times. Where the Spurs are, so is Eva Longoria. Eva Longoria = extra ratings and a chance for ABC to peddle Desperate Housewives to the max. If only Shawn Marion had been dating Terri Hatcher.

I don't pay as much attention to the NBA as I used to but isn't Rasheed a notorious whiner and moaner during most things? Meaning any time that a foul is called on him or something similar. I could swear hearing that about him but I can't remember.

I could swear hearing that about him but I can't remember. He is known for getting technical fouls. I don't think a season has gone by without him getting at least three technicals. Some of those will come from whining to the refs about a call. So what would have been a simple foul call turns into a T or an ejection.
