Nothing like a pre-season pep talk to rally up your team!

I highly doubt that the league or any of its officials would do something that would ruin the integrity of the game.
Oh, we're talking about the NBA?
Yeah, no surprises.
Seriously, though, you'd think they'd do their best to keep San Antonio out of the championship game. They are the anti-ratings, as their market is small and their style of play does not lend itself well to what the average consumer wants to see. What the team has accomplished will always being obscured by the fact they played the finals to the lowest TV ratings in modern history and the reality no one outside of their fanbse really cares about them or their achievements.
The NBA is in trouble, just not NHL level trouble yet.....

Most people will never realize that we're in the presence of one of the greatest franchises in sports history during their best years. Why can't the public be impressed with fundamentally-sound basketball? Personally...I'll take the 'boring' fundamental WINNING style the Spurs bring rather than the exciting-yet-chokeworthiness of teams like the Mavs.

Why can't the public be impressed with fundamentally-sound basketball? Personally...I'll take the 'boring' fundamental WINNING style the Spurs bring rather than the exciting-yet-chokeworthiness of teams like the Mavs. Please don't take it as a knock, as I respect what San Antonio has going, but they're almost playing an international style of ball that isn't overly exciting, especially when the NBA is in an era of me-first players that try and make posters everytime they have the ball instead of moving it and getting a smart shot off. Worse, as good as Duncan, Parker, and company are, they don't have a guy like a Jordan, Barkley, Malone, Miller, Ewing, etc. that captures the imagination of fans. I personally don't really like watching them play, for those reasons, though I certainly respect them. I can understand why you enjoy the style (considering your team has a few rings), but the NBA is in a stage of flux right now and seems to have an identity crisis. Teams like the Mavs and Suns get people's attention and boost ratings, markets like LA and NY are automatics in boosting ratings, but the Spurs are poison to the Neislens.

Yep, either that or some editor at Yahoo thought WWE was a typo. That happened to me once. Way back in 1999 when I was in college I wrote a wrestling article for the school newspaper every week. My editor changed Jushin Liger to Justin Liger on me. Bitch.
