Ok so we have gotten this new product in at work, Its coffee that actually heats itself up. On the container it states the following... "OnTech has combined centuries-old knowledge with state-of-the-art packaging to create a revolutionary container that HEATS ITSELF! Pressing the bottom of the container breaks a foil seal and allows water to drain into the heating chamber, which contains quicklime. This combination creates heat. The beverage is heated without ever touching the mixture." This is actually pretty neat, and everyone I've showed it too cant believe it works. and to top it off, the coffee is pretty good. I just thought this was a cool little thing to show to everyone. Has anyone else seen or tried this?

What disturbs me is the instruction, "when the green water disappears"
... why is the water green?

My wife worked for a sporting goods store and brought me home a couple of these from a work related expo many months ago. The cocoa was pretty good and I was impressed at how hot it actually got. It wasn't just lukewarm, it was damned hot.

Well to be fair...things like this take awhile to reach a small city in the midwest. Besides...the closest Wolfgang Pucks is probably 2000 miles away from me. Thats why I put "The future is here!" in the title. Its a Marge Simpson quote from "Homer vs. The City of New York" Marge - "Laser wart removal?...The future is here!"

Call me when they make self-chilling beer. You could always use a the reverse microwave. It can make ice. And beers like, cold really really fast. And hot pizza a little colder so you don't burn the roof of your mouth. Did you know that 90% of the world's freon comes from old 'frigerators?

I'm still waiting for the opposite of the microwave - the MACROwave. I'm sorry, but waiting the two minutes for a bag of popcorn is too long. With all of this technology we have and are continuing to advance with, I want my popcorn ready in seconds damnit! ;D

Call me when they make self-chilling beer. *ring ring* Miller to introduce self-cooling beer cans next year Posted Apr 20th 2006 3:43PM by Evan Blass Filed under: Misc. Gadgets We're always keen on technology that improves our beer consumption experience, whether it be coasters and pitchers that signal for help when you need a refill, or mugs that let you share a drink with distant friends. Obviously, then, we were understandably excited to learn that Miller will be the first domestic brewer to utilize Tempra's self-cooling cans for dropping your drink's temperature a minimum of 30º F on command. Self-cooling, and self-heating, technology have been around for awhile, but save for the homemade Peltier Beer personal beverage cooler, this is the first method we've seen to cool down your suds long after the ice in your cooler has melted. Tempra's I.C. Can works by drawing heat out of the beverage with a natural desiccant (drying agent), through a water gel coated evaporator, and into an insulated heat-sink container, once an internal vacuum-seal has been broken. Miller's self-cooled offerings should begin showing up in finer distributors nationwide starting sometime next year, and as you can probably imagine, a sixer of these high-tech brews isn't going to come cheap
