Sexy Sadako is sexy. Yeah, cartoons aren't sexy. To some, but to others, the representation of a female is enough. Why rain on their parade?

Yeah, that movie wasn't really that scary. The only scary part is how people said it was scary. I saw it over at a friend's house with a group of people, and people were making funny comments through out the movie, so it was hard to take it serious.

im sorry but an evil video tape?! come on, who wrote this thing, dr. evil? I don' t see why it would be more stupid than a ring that drives people into hateful madness. I mean, there' s been plenty of movies and other fictions based on unholy items. I don' t see why a videotape should be worse than the other ones. Also, I watched The Ring on DVD, how ironic is that ??

A cursed Video Tape isn't even all that original, ever see Videodrome or The Video Dead?
Hideo Nakata himself who directed Ringu said Videodrome was an insperation.

I still don't understand why movies with a lot of gore are lumped into being "scary" or "horror" like Saw and Hostel...doesn't make sense to me at all...

I didn' t find any of the SAW movies scary, but I loved them anyway, I think gore movies and scary movies should be considered as two different type of horror movies. And the Ring wasn' t gore. I mean, there were two very short shots of disformed faces, but beside that, there wasn' t much blood or anything really gruesome.

I watched the original version of The Ring and found it to be even worse than the American version, I actually turned it off. I'm in the same boat as you, only I didn't have the opportunity to turn it off. The original version was painfully boring. Something about these types of movies do nothing for me. Different strokes I guess.

I prefer the American version.
That movie stuck in my mind for months after I saw it.
I thought it was scary.
Ring Two is crap though.

The Ring is a silly premise but how many horror flicks these days are not downright absurd. There's only so many ways to do serial killers before you've got to look into other avenues of plot. Silly or not, that little girl is creepy. I like when she comes out of the TV because it happens so quick and looks so bizarre. Plus, her movements are real crazy and exaggerated.

The original Japanese ring is one of the scariest films ever made. Sadako, when you first see her is terrifying. The American one ruined that it with too much cgi.

i felt The Ring was one of the top horror flicks of the past ten years. Well acted, well written, and downright scary.

I remember when my dad rented the Ring....he ranted about how freaky and scary the movie is, so I saw it and now I want those 2 hours of my life back. That movie aint scary, it sucked golf balls through hoses.

should I be embarrased that I have Ring 1-2, The Grudge 1-2 and Gothika in my DVD collection then?
actually for recent horror movies one of the best I've seen is The Gravedancers, one of those 8 Afterdark Horrorfest movies. haven't seen all 8 of them but the 3 I've seen (Gravedancers included) aren't too bad
