Well I meant I had no idea what your day is for or about (besides the obvious explosions).
Our fireworks night is 4th of July to celebrate our independence.
What's yours for?

It celebrates the foiling of the Gunpowder Plot of the 5th of November 1605 in which a number of Roman Catholic conspirators, including Guy Fawkes, attempted to blow up the Palace of Westminster.

Guy Fawkes tried to blow up House of Parliament and the King of England with gunpowder in 1605. It was foiled, and I believe Guy Fawkes was hanged. Jerk Joker beat me to it
