It's ridiculous.

Like I said in the original post, I dont play this game. The reason why is because it seems you have to be a real guitarist to be any good at it. Obviously the guy in video I found is in some kind of band. I dont know about the other because all you see is the screen. But unless you play a real guitar quite often, there is no way you can be really good at this game on the tougher levels.

Real Guitarist suck out loud most of the time, bassists do a lot better, and oddly of all, the best players I have seen, like 3 of them played Sax.
I am middling at best at the game(I can 5 star most songs at medium).
You may look at it like "how can that be fun" but once you play and practice. My god. It really hearkens back to the old school when it is about skill and high scores. WHich is likely why I love it so.

So is Guitar Hero the ultimate "elite" game if you have to be an actual guitarist to be good at it?

First, you don't need to be a real guitarist, ESPECIALLY on easy and medium. It does take a little bit to get good at the game though, as EVERYONE I have ever seen play the game sucked the first time they played it. I can play decently (not great) on hard and expert now, and remember when I was terrible at easy and medium. So is Guitar Hero the ultimate "elite" game if you have to be an actual guitarist to be good at it? No, guys being able to play stuff like Jordan and Through the Fire and the Flame on expert are pretty elite, but you don't need to be even close to a real guitarist to play as I just stated. Take me for instance, I don't know how to even play a freakin' hermonica.

One of my friends was trying to teach me Expert, but I'm not fast enough for it (He can barely complete it, though). Couldn't play a note when I first got the game, and I'm not a real guitar player. But the video ... that's totally ridiculous.

Yeah, about the guitarist thing, that has little to nothign to do it. When I was at Gamestop me and this dude were watching one of the guys play on Expert, and the dude was like 'I played real guitar since I was like 5, but I can not do that game. I can do like, normal, at best.'

You know, I do play Guitar Hero, and I do wish I was as good as that guy to be able to play the song on that level. But then I realize...I have a steady girlfriend. Seriously though, after seeing that video, suddenly, YYZ on Expert in GH2 doesn't seem so impossible. As for "do you need to be a real guitarist to be good at it," the answer is absolutely not. In fact, if you watch the bonus videos on GH3 featuring Slash, Tom Morello and Bret Michaels, they all say that they could barely play it at first (Tom Morello mentioned it's actually quite humbling when a 10-year-old can beat you at your own song in the game). Slash mentioned that he has gotten "pretty good" at it, however, so it's definitely a game with a learning curve for everyone.

It's DDR for the fingers, so only bored-out-their-minds fanboys will have any time practicing it.
