Sort of like the EWR threads, except for Football Manager/Champ Manager/whatever . For those who regually play this game, like me, discuss what team/s you're managing, who you brought and sold, latest results, position in the league etc etc So right now I'm managing Arsenal and am in my second proper season as Manager. Last season, I won the League Cup, lost to Inter in the Semis of the Champions League, came 2nd in the Premiership and lost in the 4th Round in the FA Cup ( And it was all going so well ) For anyone starting the game, buy Marcelo from Real Madrid. Awesome left back, 19 years old and you can pretty much grab him at £5.5m because that's how much his release clause is. My biggest bargain so far. So my first team sort of looks like this... Oh, and Rafa Benitez got sacked as Liverpool Manager. His replacement? Marcelo Lippi First act as manager? Get himself a touchline ban from the FA ;D

I`m Newcastle manager, also in my second season. I signed Nicholas Burdisso, Matt Lockwood, Robbie Fowler, Di Biagio and a lot of younger players ready to break through in my first season, and sold Luque, Butt, Dyer and Bramble to clear debts. We finished 3rd in the league, only losing once, final of the FA cup and won the Euro/UEFA cup. In my second season Liverpool came in for Owen, who was being kept out of the team by Martins and Ameobi, so I swapped him for Crouch. I signed Mikele Leigertwood too, and am currently unbeaten in the Premiership, top by 5 points in December, and in the first knockout stage of the Champions League.
My first choice team is 4-1-3-2
1. Given 2. Carr 3. Lockwood 4. Burdisso 5. Taylor 6. Leigertwood 7. Parker 8. Emre 9. Martins 10. Ameobi 11. Duff

I still play on Championship Manager 01/02. I'm about to start a game on a Sept 07 update as my local team. Here's screenshots from a game I have as West Ham that I like: Pen from Defoe in the final minute to win West Ham's first league title on goal difference in my 4th season

I'm doing a Brighton and Hove one. I got them promoted in my first crack.

Started a new career on FM2008 with Byåsen (Norwegian 2nd division. Random team choice).
Currently 5th in the league, with young (and piss-poor) players.
I find funnier starting in lower divisions... It's relatively easy winning with a Big Team, and I usually get greedy, wanting to win everything every year.
Granted, I'll get bored quite soon anyway... I may start as manager for a National team.

I also like to use the Free Transfer market. Vassalis Tsartis is an AWESOME pickup.

Pep Guardiola, Luigi Di Biagio and Nouderrine Naybet are great freebie signings. Chris Sutton will score a few too.

Can we talk about the hilariously terrible Manager Mode on FIFA 08? I'm currently with Man City. I sim all my games, yet I still win at least four trophies a season.

Alessandro Rosina's pretty damn good too.
Pretty much the reason Rosisky left Arsenal.

Yep, but it was simple to get Cardiff up in the Premiership, go unbeaten for four seasons and win every trophy possible. Oh, and having the greatest team on earth (every player was 90 or over, including subs and reserves). All without playing a match.

Currently managing two teams on LMA 2003. Macclesfield Town have just lost out on promotion to Division 2 by losing to Bristol Rovers in the playoffs. I usually have a 4-4-2 formation and change to 4-3-3 in the second half.
(GK) Stuart Tomlinson (signed from Crewe) (LB) Scott Hitchen (CB) Ashley Cureton (promoted from youth team) (CB) Davey Dudka (free agent) (RB) Darren Tinson (c) (LM) Kieran Richardson (loaned from Man United for season) (CM) Nigel Reo-Coker (signed from Wimbledon) (CM) Dwayne Rusk (promoted from youth team) (RM) Wayne Routledge (loaned from Crystal Palace for season) (CF) Scott McGliesh, Kyle Lightbourne or Chris Sharpling (CF) Matthew Tipton
My Port Vale team that is now in Division One after winning the play offs against QPR. Signed Murphy, Boertein and Cooper after promotion. I use 4-3-3.
(GK) Joe Murphy (signed from WBA) (LB) Paul Boertein (freebee from Derby) (CB) Shane Sherriff (signed from Leeds) (CB) Michael Walsh (c) (RB) Matt Carragher (LM) Kevin Cooper (on loan from Wolves for season) (CM) Sean McClare (RM) Jon McCarthy (CF) Ian Armstrong (CF) Steve Brooker (CF) Steven McPhee

A question for lower leagues managers in FM200x
My team (Byåsen, Norway 2nd division, aka English League One) has only Part-Time players, and they keep complaining about the training workload (custom made schedule, global bar is on "medium"). Should I keep the default "general (part-time)" training schedule to avoid injuries, complaints and fatigue epidemies?
The average level of players is pretty bad (avg skill is 50-60), and few of them could be decent elsewhere

I won't be hooked by another Championship Manager game. No way ... it's a life eater is what it is.

I won't be hooked by another Championship Manager game. No way ... it's a life eater is what it is. Theyve made it worse now. Not only is it more realistic and interactive, they have an "addictedness rating" which shows you how addicted you are when you log in. At the start it tells you you are "lacking match practice", its like having a challenge laid down to you.... "What!? Lacking match practice??? I`ll show them!!!"
