Beowulf stuff made me think of this. I've owned this book for a couple of years and it's pretty interesting in that it's Grendel's side of the story in a a first person, er, monster POV.

My old English teacher used to mention that book from time to time. I kept meaning to find a copy, but never got around to it.

I love that book, it indeed rocks. I'm gonna have to read it again, I think.

I spent about two weeks last quarter in my Honors English class reading and analyzing that book. Pretty good, and revealed a truer side to Beowulf that I rather believe than the original tale.
I mean in Beowulf, Beowulf is well...basically Hulk Hogan from the 80s to now(with now being like Beowulf's fight with the Dragon), while in Grendel, we see a darker side of Beowulf. Come on, at this time Europeans are basically still barbarians on the battlefield, and with the Geats(Beowulf's people) being basically Vikings, strong, blonde, proud warriors from the cold North, it would stand to reason that if Beowulf actually got his hands on Grendel, he would bash Grendel's head constantly into a wall while shouting, "Now SING! Sing for me! SING!!!!"
Depending on how well Beowulf does in the box office, they should make a "sequel" titled...what else? Grendel, and have it be about this book.

Or you can just see Beowulf and Grendel since it ties both movies together seamlessly. And shows more of the human side of Grendel. Where you feel his pain and suffering

Where you feel his pain and suffering Nah, Grendel needs his own stand alone movie, because that is what John Gardner's novel is about, Grendel and makes you think who was the REAL monster in the legend, the humans, or Grendel? One of the great debates about the novel is does Grendel commit suicide, or does he simply fall off a cliff on accident.

It makes him more Neanderthal, human like decedent of Cain who is just trying to live his own life and avoid Beowulf and his men. Its better then 13 Warriors...

I have no fault with 13th Warrior, as that is LOOSELY based on Beowulf.
