How could I forget Fred Claus? What a piece of trash.
I’ll Be Home For Christmas starring Randy from Home Improvement is also a stinker.

I posted about BAD Sports movies earlier, but now.....BAD Holiday Movies! Any holiday that Hollywood has made a picture revolving around, except why is it that most of the bad ones are set at or around Christmas? SANTA CLAUS: THE MOVIE (1985) - The Salkind producing clan, who made the first few SUPERMAN movies, tried to pull a Superman narrative on the Big Fat Red Man....and lets just say it doesn't work. Even John Lithgow can't do anything with the garbage he's (overpaid) to do with. I'll be reviewing this baby soon. I can name 30 to 40 other turkeys that outstink this selection. Out of the wide selection of "Christmas" movies that are insincere, bland, and more wink, wink-nudge, nudge than family-oriented, I just have to question whatever trauma forced you into choosing this over all the other possibilities. I'm not saying it's a brilliant flick, but this reminds me of people on the boards who choose to pick on Davey Richards or Nigel McGuiness when there are Khalis and Batistas galore out there to choose from that they'd rather not mention for whatever unexplained reasons.

Then name all 40. Anyway, your wrestling analogy is flawed. SANTA CLAUS: THE MOVIE is exactly like the Great Khali.....big and huge, but shallow.

Ernest Scared Stupid 8 Crazy Nights The original Simpsons Christmas special-thing hasn't aged well, either.

A Christmas Story.
*dodges flying tomatoes, and whatever else in the room hasn't been bolted down*
Sorry. It's a decent flick, but copious amounts of overexposure have soured it forever.

Actually, I'd be glad to PM you 40 movies in the Christmas genre that are worse if you weren't so consumed by your own thread that you'd refuse to consider even one of them. I stand by the fact that Santa Claus: The Movie is not one of the two worst movies in the Christmas genre. At this point, I'll throw you your bone and just agree to disagree. Trying to be fair, I perceived your targets as attempts to bring down two "Hollywood giants" who seem to be outside the range of the standard criticism radar, and that's fine. The only thing wrong (and I admit there is something wrong) with my analogy to wrestling is that Santa Claus is not on the level as a Nigel McGuiness in delivery; that may be a little unfair. Erick Stevens or BJ Whitmer may be a little more accurate. However, it's certainly no Khali or Mark Henry when stacked up against the countless other titles that have botched much worse. I still see it as your trying to pick on a couple of movies that you rarely hear picked on, and I'm OK with that. I just agree to disagree that these are not the two most likely titles to earn the moniker "BAD Holiday Movies." EDIT: Forgot to quote the post I was replying to.

I didn't say SANTA CLAUS and THE GRINCH are the worst holiday movies. I just think they're (1) Awful and (2) They Suck. Are there 40 worst holiday movies? Probably. But those two I listed are the first that come to mind FOR ME when I came up with this topic of "BAD Holiday Movies." Are you a fan of SANTA CLAUS: THE MOVIE?

Santa Claus 1985 is awful, and not in the good funny way (Santa Claus Conquers the Martians), but in a very bad way. Anyway, if I can recommend a bad Christmas movie, I'll go with Santa Claus Conquers the Martians. Its cheap and extremely cheesy (worst polar bear ever!), but unlike the two rra mentioned, it actually can be entertaining--when it's not playing the godawful theme music.

I don`t celebrate Christmas, but with the tv scheduling around the period I`ve seen a few. I can honestly say the only one I`ve ever actually liked was National Lampoon`s. The rest were total cliched, sacherine nonsense.
