Ok, while I've enjoyed the Devils for years, I fully admit that I haven't been THAT into following the NHL until only a few years ago (basically once the lockout ended), largely thanks to fall and winter schedules back in high school that precluded me from watching much in the way of non-summer sports. I always enjoyed it, but I didn't really become a big fan until recent years.
So, with that being said, I want some notes on a couple of fronts:
I want to ask for a couple of Devs jerseys for the holidays, but I'm a bit confused about the difference between the Reebok Edge jersey models and the Reebok Premiere ones. I fully realize that, since the Edge model is so much more expensive, that makes it the full-on replica style, and that some of the bells and whistles must be missing from the Premiere models. My main question is, which exact features aren't there, and how hard would they affect your choice of jersey?
Secondly, for Devils fans specifically, I know I want a home red and road white jersey, and one of those jerseys will have Marty's name (not getting a Marty jersey while he's still playing would be like a Mets back in the 60s'-70's not buying a Tom Seaver jersey; he's The Franchise!), but I'm a lil' bit torn on who I want on the other. Let me hear your opinions:
-Parise (the rising star and likely long-term NJ mainstay) -Mad Dog (love Madden's style and the fact that he's basically the boss of the "Grit" line) -White -Langs -Gio
I'm leaning towards Madden's #11, but I'd like to field opinions.

I'd go for a Brodeur and or Stevens jersey.
Currently on the team? I'd go Parise. But hey, jerseys are expensive, so get whatever you want.

I did some searching and can't tell the difference between Edge and Edge Premiere jerseys. Maybe the premier one comes with the authentic lettering and stuff. That drives the price up fairly nicely.
They're gonna be the same thing, but I can't tell you exactly what.

Yeah, I checked it out myself later last night; I still can't totally tell, but I think the Edge models have the authentic lettering and a "fight lining" on the inside of the back. Oh, believe me, I'd dig a Scott Stevens jersey, but I'm just trying to be current. Besides, tons of Devils fans have jerseys of the Captain, so I just want one that's a lil' bit different.

If I can give you one advice on what not to get. Do not be like my cousin last year and get an Oduya jersey.
I want a Christmas warrior Devs jersey for Christmas if anyone is shopping for me.

Well, as a Devils fan who lives in the southern end of Flyers country (aka Delaware), I have two Devils road sweaters but they are unnumbered.
Both are a CCM models. One is 2XL because I wore it during open ice practices, the other is a L.
Madden wouldn't be a bad choice, but Parise is cool too.
If you wanted to go throwback (and get some cheap fan heat), get a C. Lemieux. Or for the sentimental pop, go Daneyko.
It's a shame Rafalski left, otherwise he would be a good choice.

If I were to get a Devils jersey I'd have "Mickey Mouse" as the name and "83" as the numbers.
Just saying.

Pearson trophies, 5 Lady Byng awards, 1 Lester B. Patrick trophy, 3 All-Star Game MVP awards, plus about 900 more awards and trophies he is burdened down by having to polish.

Gretzky was a one way player. Y'ever watch those Oilers play? The whole team was one way....score. There was no boring-ass trap being played back then. Free wheeling, run and gun hockey. The Oilers defensive strategy was "if the other team doesn't have the puck, they can't score"....that's all they did for defense. Which is why they had the highest Goals For in NHL history, but also coughed up a few hundred.

I guess I'll get back to some real answers to your questions.
Take a look at the pricing. The regular Edge jersey may come cheaper, but see if the price includes the authentic numbering and lettering for the names and numbers. If not, it's gonna drive the price up around $100 probably. Same with the Premier one, the real numbering will cost another $100. I know around here, Jersey City is selling off some old-style jerseys. The jerseys are cheap, like $80, but once you get a number put on, the price is over $200.
As for who to pick, just go with your favorite player....or better still, use your own name and number.

I like a game in the middle, scoring, but with an effort to stop it as well.
Anyway, what you should get is Sydney Crosby's name on the back and when people ask, just shrug and say "wishful thinking"
