Anyone seen this? Ever since Batman Begins, I've been on a real Christian Bale kick as he's an awesome actor and have started collecting stuff of his I missed the first go 'round. Found this for like eight bucks at Hasting's; remember hearing a bit about it when it came out, but not much, but it looked interesting so I checked it out. Awesome flick. It's a shame it hasn't really found an mass audience yet ( I don't think) and that it didn't do better than it did in its first run. Great action, an intriguing story, cool gunfights. There's really no reason it shouldn't have been huge. Maybe now that Bale is a proven commodity, more people will seek it out, as it's quite worth it. Here's the wiki entry to tell ya more about it. Be careful about reading the plot section as it has full spoilers. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Equilibrium_(2002_film)Def. check this flick out if you haven't seen it, really worth it. Two thumbs.

I saw it a bit before Bale was announced as Batman/Wayne, and it totally sold me on the idea of him wearing the cape and cowl. Awesome flick that borrows a bit from other Sci-fi, (but really what doesn't at this point).
Highly recommend it.

I liked Equilibrium and that's why I rented Ultraviolet the other night. Equilibrium was a fun movie, I wouldn't say 'good' but it was definitely fun. Ultraviolet..... just plodded. Hell, 30 minutes into the movie I was wondering aloud how much frickin' longer the movie was....

Great movie. It pisses me off when people call it a Matrix rip off... One, it's not. Two, it's better than The Matrix. ;D

Ah, Equilibrium is one of my favourite movies. Bale's display of gun-fu is too awesome for words, and the plot was something i'd never seen before in a sci-fi movie.

Hell, 30 minutes into the movie I was wondering aloud how much frickin' longer the movie was.... ULTRAVIOLET was taken away from Kurt Wimmer during post-production, and 40+ minutes was chopped out. No wonder it makes no damn sense.

Great movie. It pisses me off when people call it a Matrix rip off... One, it's not. Two, it's better than The Matrix. ;D More and more, EQUILIBRIUM is just more interesting to me on a cerebral level because despite people think, its not a movie of ideology. Its a film of theology, of a priest of this future "sect" that does go under a transformation, or reformation one might say, because he's realized that his theology has a fundamental gap within it. You know, instead of being the hero because he's been prophecized or whatever nonsense of THE MATRIX. What I dig though is the ending, which in most movies either doesn't work or we pass through that motion because with the villain pleading for mercy, and what the hero does, what more can you do with it? With EQUILIBRIUM, that last quick-cut to Emily Watson's last scene...you're convinced emotionally and thematically why Bale does what he does next. A really good picture indeed. EQUILIBRIUM (2003) - ***1/2

I love it, especially the long awaited clash between Preston and Brandt at the end.

I saw this before Christian Bale was announced as Batman. After I heard he was going to play the Dark Knight, I remembered this movie and thought, "Batman Begins is going to be awesome." Sure enough, I was right.

I saw it a few years ago...was looking around through stuff at Blockbuster and it looked pretty interesting, so I picked it up, and highly enjoyed it. It's a really, really cool movie. And while the plot isn't startlingly original, it's a nifty new take on the whole Fahrenheit 451 sorta thing.
