I'll be in the minority, but I enjoyed THE LONE GUNMEN. Campy and silly compared to X-FILES, but screw it, I liked it. I knew I liked you for one reason or another. I thought you liked me for my movie expertise, and my sexual fetish for pigs. Assumptions are the doom of us all. Anyway, one thing about X-FILES 2 that disapoints me is that the Lone Gunmen were killed off and won't return.

I loved the spin-off and was torn up by their demises in the aptly named "Jump the Shark" episode.

Maybe the Lone Gunmen will show up in Force Ghost form again just to annoy Mulder and watch him piss.
And for the record, I too loved the TLG show.

I care mainly because the show's paranoia seems less paranoid after all the government has done post-9/11. That said, I think this finally got the greenlight because the strike killed all new scripts.

That said, I think this finally got the greenlight because the strike killed all new scripts. It did, and Fox needed a movie for next summer. From the guys I know, they told me that the script they're shooting is one that's been complete for some time. How long in fact? Since 2000. So yeah, there is credence then that X-FILES 2 indeed is a "lost tale" instead of an out-right another sequel.

This movie will be awesome. I'm going to play X-Files: Resist or Serve in the meantime, and hopefully I can save up some money to score that monster $200 collector's set with every season and the movie.

Those were awesome episodes. I think the "big huge conspiracy" involved episodes weren't as great as the general wierdness they confronted. Which is in spite that CSM was a great character. But yeah, all those damn crazy monsters....another I remember vaguely is a guy who created a huge subway nest out of old newspapers, and an episode ends with him at an asylum, slowly licking and pasting a new hive. Or better yet, the infamous incest family episode. Yikes. EDIT - Well, if the "Lost Tale" bit is true, then nevermind all I had said about the past few years. That was Eugene Tooms, who could shift his body to squeeze through the most unsuspectingly small vent or tunnel in your home and consume you. And you're referring to "Home" with the incest family. I remember that episode got banned from syndication because it was so gruesome. And the fluke man episode gave me nightmares. Good lord, that was an ugly ass mofo.

'Home' wasn't banned from syndication...at least not on SciFi and TNT(although you probably were talking about Fox).
I've seen the episode on those channels a few times. It's still creepy as hell.

Awesome. I need Scully pics... This movie will be awesome. Is Resist or Serve any good? I hear mixed things, but for 10 bucks it can't be all that bad.

They unbanned it after a while, but I distinctly remember it not being played on Fox for a time. When they started doing reruns on TNT and FX, they were able to show the episode.

I was heavily into the X-Files during its first few seasons, when it was a sci-fi show. Into the forth or fifth season, the show transformed into a soap opera with lite sci-fi undertones, and wasn't worth watching, in my opinion. The legacy of the X-Files was tarnished by how long it kept going on for, despite the fact that much of its original audience had been alienated (kinda like WWE, LOL).
The fact that the 1st X-Files movie proved to be nothing more than an extended regular episode (meaning, NOTHING major happened, and no revelations were uncovered) makes me cynical as to how great the sequel's going to be.

Damn skippy. ;D Peter Boyle's episode was really fantastic. Learning Mulder was going to die of auto-erotic whatever was......weird. Oh, and just to be really anal, the show was around during the whole 2000 election thing. The show ended in 2002. That's true, but considering how I had initially thought X-FILES died in 2000...opps. Anyway, maybe I should have added 2004 election then. BTW, what did you think of the first movie? Not to be picky, but I'm...pretty sure there was no real controversy about the 2004 election. Btw, I love the X-Files. I've posted threads about this show in the past, and this has the rare distinction of being both the best AND worst show of all time. When it was on, there was truly nothing like it. But the entirely-way-too-convoluted for its own good conspiracy mytharc felt like it was being made up by Chris Carter on the spot.

The first movie came out on my birthday, so I'll mark if this one does as well.
