As usual I can't afford some so I guess I'll stick to watching.

Nope.
Why do I need to waste money when everyone else buys them for me to watch?

Fireworks, hell.
You want some fun, be in my complex that night. I can guarantee gunfire in the night.

I"d rather make fireworks with someone on New Years instead of watching them. Is this a Europe thing? I don't recall fireworks in the past except for the millenium.

New Years and 4th of July, big times for fireworks (though obviously 4th is bigger for them). Always been that way, at least here in Texas. That, and like I mentioned above, the guns. Everyone down here likes to go out at the stroke of midnight on New Years Eve/New Years and shoot into the sky.

When I lived in Michigan they did that type of thing around Detroit on New Year's, and people always ended up getting shot.

What I'll be doing on New Year's Eve, is probably sleeping or playing some games getting ready to go to sleep soon.
What I'll be doing on New Year's Day is probably working.
And none of that matters, because it's all just another day to me. I'll be getting that money, money, yeah yeah.

The Double AA New Year's Eve bash?
Peanut brittle, Welch's Grape Juice, and watching those horrible New Year's Eve shows on regular television.
At 12:00AM, me and the wife smooch (the highlight of the evening) and we clean up from our wild New Year's bash.
I used to hang out on New Year's Eve until I saw four friggin' accidents in one night on the way home. I'll stay indoors, away from the insane and snookered partiers, thanks.

With people shooting the mortor fireworks off all night, creating the sound of distant bombing and a thick haze. Then the random gun shot and small fireworks. Yea... I love Texas

I love Texas Always interesting to listen to the police scanner that night. Lots of mistaken calls and dispatches for a 10-32 (subject with gun) because of the fireworks and general partying. However, here in Laramie, WY, discharge of a weapon in city limits earns you a two week stay in jail, assuming you don't get shot yourself, so there's not that much of that behavior.

New Year's Eve bothers me... One of those days you just HAVE to do something extremely funny. And that usually turns into a letdown.
Fireworks are nice if done by experts, professionals. Kids and teens running around throwing "bombs" and various stuff are just annoying while not dangerous.
