The other night, a guy I know made reference to wikipedia and I realized that this was the first time I've heard the word spoken aloud by someone besides myself.
He pronounced it "WY-kepedia, whereas going by how it looks I pronounced it wikipedia-wik sounding like "lick" or "sick". How is it pronounced?

Wiki - So it rhymes with "sticky."
Pedia - Well, just like Encyclo-"pedia"...

I pronounce it 'Wick-E-Pedia'.
Always presumed that was right.

I don't know the "correct" pronunciation, but if I just say "Wiki" I either say "wik-ee" with a hard 'e' or "wee-kee"
If I say "wikipedia" both I's are soft I's. Like wicked pedia, without the 'd'.

i rotate between "wik-E-pedia" (which i'd done ever since I learned about the site) and "wik-UH-pedia" (which I started doing occasionally because that's how my wife says it and it stuck. Oh, and that's how Sideshow Bob pronounced it in the most recent episode of The Simpsons he showed up on)

If you can't pronounce Wikipedia, you lose at life. Just give it up.

Wee-Kee is the correct pronunciation of the prefix, but according to Wikipedia's Wikipedia article, the following are acceptable:
wɪkɨˈpiːdiə/, /ˌwiːkiˈpiːdiə/, /ˌwɪkiˈpiːdiə/ or /ˌwiːkiˈpeɪdiə

Wik-e-pedia is how I pronounce it. By the way Willy, is that Charlie Callas in your sig? It looks like Michael McDonald from MadTV to me. ^^^^ Stephen Colbert is always right but deaf in his right ear.

Definately "wee-kee"
The White Sox had a Wiki Gonzalez in spring training last year and that was how it was pronounced.
