I was skeptical from the trailers and was coerced into seeing it and I ended up loving it, funniest movie of '07, no doubt. It's very in-your-face with the dirty humor, and some of the dialogue sounded like a stand-up comedy routine. And that's all ok with me. I went to the theater/bought the DVD with the intention of laughing, and that's what happened.

I rented it a few weeks ago and thought it was okay. I can certainly see why others (especially the crowd its written for) would appreciate it, but un-ironically I enjoyed the scenes with the cops.
I still liked and laughed more at Ratatouille.

nah, I was messing around. I enjoyed superbad, but the McLovin stuff is a bit over rated.
Yeah good flick, maybe a bit long.

I didn't watch it, nor will I ever, but it's hard for it to not be overrated because everyone goes on about it, there's Mclovin shirts and all. Smart ass horny teens just don't appeal to me Bra-effing-vo, sir. The overhype from everyone I know and run into have turned this movie into some holy experience. I don't want to see it just on general principles now, never mind the fact that the whole topic no longer has any resonance with me. Jed Shaffer ~You want a horny teen movie? Porky's. That's your all-time champ.

Dude, I am watching it now, and I love it. IDK its because I am pretty much in the same situation as the main characters(senior in high school). This is pretty much what High School is like here in the 935 Superbad = High School, dead on.

When I first saw it in theaters over the summer, I thought it was a solid A-/B+ level movie. I thought it was really funny, and I related more to the way the two kids talked, rather than their actions in high school, so I found common ground on which I could enjoy the movie even further.
Then I saw it again when it came out on DVD, and didn't like it nearly as much. It slipped down to C/C- levels. Maybe the shock value of seeing it the first time wore off, maybe it really isn't that funny. Or maybe its the fact that it's been quoted to death and its the most over-referenced movie of this decade, aside from Napoleon Dynamite.
The movie can be broken down into three segments:
- OPEN TO WHEN THE GUY GETS HIT BY THE CAR: Hilarious. The best stuff of the movie. - WHEN THE GUY GETS HIT BY THE CAR TO WHEN THEY RUN FROM THE COPS: Boring as hell, slow, drags, predictable and damn stupid. For a movie that's supposed to "capture high school", this does an awful job. At no point in my high school career did I get to party with the local cops, have to run from a 40 year-old's house party, or try to carry liquor in a detergent bottle. - WHEN THEY RUN FROM THE COPS TO END: Funny. Not as funny as the open, but it really brings it all together, and its back to what a Friday night in high school was really like.
I guess I can sum my entire rant up by saying "It wasn't as good the second time around."

I dont understand why Superbad must forever be compared with 40YOV and Knocked up. Superbad was written and directed by different people than those other two films. Apatow wrote and directed the first 2, and had little to do with Superbad, which was written by Rogen himself(along with Evan Goldberg)and directed by Greg Mottola. And considering its the first film they ever wrote, and the first film Mottola ever directed(i think) i think its pretty outstanding. Comparing it with Apatow's work seems unfair considering the amount of time and work he has under his belt.

Superbad = Best movie of 2007!
I can't say "Best Movie Ever" because I haven't taken the time to compare it to my other favorite movies like the Bill and Ted movies, Dodgeball, The Wraith, Maximum Overdrive, and 40 Year Old Virgin.

Yeah, I definitely have to agree with you on the Best of 07 part. I was kinda like "eh?" because my mom got it for me for X-mas, so it would have to be pretty good, considering I now owned it(I planed on renting it or buying it on PPV). But it went above and beyond my expectations. Michael Cera(Evan) is awesome, always has been. I'm calling it. In at least 5 years, he's going to be a big deal. Tonight I'll see if it follows the standard for comedies. That the deleted scenes are some of the funniest in the movie.

Yeah, my cousin and sister (same age, 17) saw it too, and they loved it.
I have not laughed at a movie like I did there in a long time.

Yeah. This is the first movie in a long time that gave me a stomach ache from laughing so hard.
A good year for comedies. Superbad and Knocked Up.

I just realized WWE missed out on a super good(pun intended) cross-over idea back when this was in theaters.
They could have had Michelle McCool start saying that she was "McLovin life".

Mottola directed a smaller indie flick about 10 years ago called The Daytrippers, really excellent if you haven't seen it. Then there has been a lot of tv between the two films. He's a better overall director than Apatow. But yeah, it really isn't quite fair to compare the three films, but it's bound to happened when all the trailers/tv spots yell 'from the guys you brought you Virgin and Knocked Up. Superbad really does stand on its own, outside of seeing a few familiar faces, nothings the same, the dialogue, nothing. Oh, well, each three are wonderful comedies.

I saw the previews and actually laughed at them.
I've not done that in YEARS. I knew I had to see the movie. I did and haven't laughed in the movie theatre that hard in YEARS as well.
Simply put, I loved this movie.
